Hi can anyone please help me , i have just won gibson Les paul 1957 VOS off ebay .

It looks great big i am worried as i cannot find any reference on the web to Gibson making a Gold sparkle version of this model .

see link below .

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140431432105&ssPageName=ADME:L:COSI:GB:1123

If it is the real deal would the gold sparkle make it more or les desirable

Thanks in advance

hi thanks for the quick response you just saved me £375 and alot of hassle .

I agree that the guitar must be a fake due to the points which have been pointed out , i just saw the guitar at the last minute and offered a low best offer price which was accepted.

what should i do ?would you report the item as being a fake or email the seller asking him to cancel the transaction ?

thanks again

That's definately a fake!

Things to look at (without getting TOO specific):

The shape of the pickguard/number of screws

The position of the knobs/shape of the cavity route

The "sparkle" finish (No Juniors (especially '57 RIs) came with that finish)

The shape of the neck heel

The position of the pickup in relation of the pickguard

The angle of the tailpiece

I agree with all of your other points' date=' but Gibson has, from time-to-time, put a non-historic finish on a reissue. They seem particularly fond of sparkle.[/quote']RI Juniors NEVER came with a "sparkle" finish. And as far as any other RI goes, the only ones with any sort of special finish that I've ever seen were custom ordered.
