schotness Posted January 30, 2008 Share Posted January 30, 2008 I've just got one of these labelled Grainger My old crate died & my mate got me a fantastic deal from soundcontrol uk all 150 quid back (plus a 20% discount on the socal which was £400 including the 4x12 cab so I forked out another £170 & the socal was £320 in all only had a couple of hours on it so far but its pretty loud & louder than you hear yourself I guess thats the air volume being pushed by 4 12 speakers though for example I was in one room the drummer was in another room, 2 heavy doors away trying to listen to the backing track on his cans & couldnt hear them over my amp. at this point btw I had the volume on 1/4 up by the way on clean Clean sounds clean but warm quite full sounding on the other channel I dont like a lot of gain so my gain is set to 1/4 too & that sounds suprisingly jangly & melodic & I still love my valve junior btw I'm pretty much a beginner, power chords, barre & one finger finger picking but i'm well pleased Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
slagg Posted February 5, 2008 Author Share Posted February 5, 2008 local music store finally got the epi line of amps.played through all of them.the so cal is pretty cool but i believe the valve standard blows it away,really sensitive to playing techniqe.but i have heard they have discontinued the standard ,is this true?it would be a shame couse it really sounds good anybody know the scoop8-[ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
