RelicStrat
does the impedence of the new speaker match? also, check to be sure you didn't bend a pin on on f the tubes. check to see if the power tube is arcing.
luvastogie
Are these decent amps vs the valve junior? What do they go for used?
cGil
I suspect you've just got a bad power tube. Try the 12ax7 again, too, just to be sure, and definitely check your speaker connections. Gil...
SteveEIR
Hi, were you able to fix this amp?? I have a galaxie 25 that I just replaced the power transformer. I got the replacement part from mercury magnetics. If you know how to use a voltmeter, check the secondary taps of the transformer to ground. Make sue you temporarily remove the indicator light because this light is connected across the filiament tap and will show up just like a short to ground. My problem was one of the red (filement tap) wires was a direct short to ground. I had to remove the wires from the circuit to test. Please le t me know if I can be of more help to you.
