joeymetro
I think it is great someone is buying expense guitars. Expensive is all relative. I felt my Ultra was expensive when I bought it.

Now pay your rent, utilities, cable, phone & cell phone bills, then make your car payment and insurance premium too. Oh yeah, don't forget to eat once in awhile too. Still got some change in your pocket? I'm guessing the "Big Spender" does, so he's earned the right to spend it as he, not you, sees fit. Let me know when you've got a pot to piss in, and I'll think about consulting you before my next guitar purchase.
muletrane
"Why do people do it?" 1. Play expensive guitars? - Because they can afford to buy them. 2. Complain about people playing expensive guitars? - Sounds like a jealousy thing. If your epi classic is so great, why worry about what other peole play. Sinner 13
Wow! You Ladies have managed to get you're nickers in a twist over a 13 yr old, who: 1. lacks attention at home, so he looks for validation here. 2.Has caused a bunch of old men on here to Act just like him. ALL OF YOU..... Get off the nerd box and go PLAY your guitars instead of being jealous over who has what for gear. Last but not least, if you ignore the lying little bastard long enough eventually he will shut up.

Are you all so disparately in need to show your superiority and vast experience that you can't just let him off with a simple statement that "People can spend their money however they like"? I remember when I was in high school I thought I was so awesome after finishing my physics class. I thought I knew so much science I was da bomb. Then I majored in physics in college and realized -no one- knows their $#@!, no matter how old they are. Sometimes I still catch myself thinking I'm smarter than everyone else (right now is coming to mind...).. Hell, I probably shouldn't be making this statement because -I- certainly don't know what I"m talking about half the time. Anyway the take home story is this thread is not worth 3 pages. I apologize for contributing to this strangeness..,

Dave
13Y, that kind of thinking is what got this country into redistibuting tax money to pay people who won't work for a living. It borders on socialism. America was created on the precept that the harder you work the more you reap the rewards of your labors. When I was 12, I got my first guitar. I drooled over the Epiphone, Gibson, Fender, and other catalogs, went into the guitar stores and wished that I could afford all the equipment on display. All this time, I was learning on a Silvertone (Sears) acoustic that had frets so high that my fingers shed skin after I practiced. (No, I didn't have to walk 3 miles to school in the snow, uphill both ways). There were players with rich parents who financed their kids bands. One of the bands had all Fender amps and expensive guitars. Another had Vox Super Beatles and similar expensive guitars. I swore one day that I would be able to afford that kind of equipment. It was apparent to me early on that I had to have a day job to support my guitar habit, so I went to work and suddenly, with my band money and my day job, I could afford a mortgage and could spend my band money on musical instruments. You'll understand one day. That "old guy" has done something similar. It's not wrong to have things other people want. It's wrong to envy them because they have them and you don't. Find a way to emulate them and you will have those things. Until then, be happy for them. They have become a role model for you. Learn from them and become successful.
