therling
I've searched around for an answer to this question but I've not found any, so pardon me if this has been asked before. Is there any difference between using a 4 Ohm impedance speaker (using the 4 Ohm OT tap) as opposed to using an 8 Ohm speaker (with the 8 Ohm OT tap) as a replacement for the stock Valve Jr Speaker? I see that there's quite a few 4 Ohm speakers on the block at eBay, for example, so I'm wondering what the effect of using a different output impedance might be. Thanks. Tom H. Eracer_Team
simple answer.. none.. use 4 on 4, 8 on 8 and 16 on 16... should not change anything (and on a tube amp you don't get any more power using a lower impedance, unlike your IC stereo). now if you start putting 4 on 8 or 16 on 4 that changes the reflected impedance.
