1998 Casino

I'm new here. Just thought I'd pass my experience along. I bought a new Korean made Casino in the fall of 1998. Label inside says VC. The first thing I did was I had a bone nut, and Seymour Duncan Antiquity P-90's installed. I've experiemented with a ton of string configurations. The best for me are the Elixir electric .010 with the steel .017 G string.

I've never had any problems with this guitar. No wiring, pots, jack, nada. It's been set up with super low action, intonation, everything. It does hum a little, but for some reason if you turn or set in the right direction the hum goes away. I'm not talking standing on one leg with your arms extended like a tv antenna. Just a little turn one way or the other.

Awesome guitar. Hope this helps all you Casino guys.

Peace,

Sam

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your post -- I'm curious, how did you go about changing to the Duncans? Were you able to retain the original pickup covers, or did you have to change to black or cream? I have some antiquities in my tele and am completely happy with them. Thinking about doing the same for my own MIK Casino.

I had the Duncans professionally installed. They are black. I eventually sold the original PU's on ebay to a guy from Ky. I'm not one for keeping stuff laying around, although looking back I probably should have kept them and had someone rewind them to 60's specs to see if that made a difference. But a guy I know and repsect who is a big Beatles/British Invasion guy told me to go with the Duncans so that's what I did.

Hope this helps.

Sam
