brad1
Have had real positive experiences with AMS. I always have things delivered in 1-2 days. I believe they are based in Florida, but they also have a warehouse in Nevada which is great for us West coast guys. I like Sweetwater as well, only it takes a few days longer to receive their stuff. Ricochet
I'm in Europe, so haven't dealt with aforementioned shops before. Maybe I should give it a try with the current Dollar to Euro conversion. Only used Ebay once or twice. I do order from Thomann based in Germany. So far, so good.

ricach
I've only had one problem with MF and they resolved it quickly - sent me out a replacement same day I sent back the damaged one. Â Anybody ever do business with guitarcrazy.com ?
hoobiepatrol
As much as they get trashed around here, I've honestly never had a bad experience with MF over five years and 10+ orders. Maybe I'm just the exception to the rule, but I'll keep shopping from them until they give me a reason not to. Â Oh, I've never ordered a guitar from them though. It just seems like common sense to me not to order a guitar through the mail.

Suicidehummer
NEVER SHOP ONLINE! Why would you buy a guitar without even playing it? Even if they have some LE you can't get at your closest store, wouldn't you rather have a Standard model that plays excellent than some special model that's $200 extra for a Maestro, and comes broken anyway? Just my opinion...

Suicidehummer
I used to think that way too. Until I got my SG Jr. Now I don't feel that way at all. Never say never. Â For every good guitar, there's 9 broken ones. At least thats what I gather from all these stories of broken guitars. You don't hear about people playing a guitar at GC, only to find it broken when they got home!

I'm not complaining though, I have sent guitars back to dealers w/o any problems. It's not that a big of a deal. In fact, it saved me over $100 on my Sheri. Notes_Norton
I've purchased 2 guitars online.  A Kramer/Focus from MusicYo and it arrived in perfect condition. The guitar was a closeout and I got it for a very good price.  ------  And another used guitar (Casino) from eBay that was damaged. It was advertised as near mint but the neck had a crack running down the grain. The seller took it back, no questions asked, and reimbursed me for my return shipping plus a little extra for my time. I'd definitely do business with him again.  ------  After that I decided to only buy a used guitar that I can get my hands on, and I found the Casino that I now own at a GC in West Palm Beach. I traded in my Kramer/Focus and case for exactly the money I paid for it. The Casino was used, and I also got it at a good price ($425) considering that it hardly had a scratch on it, (the few on the back were only visible if you held it in a bright light at an angle), plus the tuners, pots, and switch had been upgraded, and there was no fret wear to speak of. I got lucky on both the price and the trade-in.  ------  I purchased a sax on-line once after trying out a friend's. I ordered 3, picked the best one and sent the other two back. The store was the Woodwind and Brasswind (I think GC has since bought them out).  ------  After the damaged guitar arrived (could have been damaged during shipping), I decided not to buy another without playing it first. Which makes things a little difficult at times. I live 60 miles from West Palm Beach, and in my local area I have a choice; One store sells Fender and friends, another (which I won't shop at because they are jerks) sells Gibson and associates, and the third store can't get a major franchise, they sell Ibanez (I guess anybody can), Jay Turser (bad name - anybody have any experience with that brand?), Hagstrom (nice guitar), Dean (ugly) and a few others. I'd really like to try a Gibson BluesHawk, but nobody around here has one. I see them on eBay a lot, and they go for over $600, but I'd never especially buy a used one that I don't know anything about (except the looks, size and varitone).  ------  I've done business for gear other than guitars with Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, and Music 123 and have not had a problem with any of them.  But I generally try to find the product locally first. I feel that the extra little bit you pay shopping in a local store pays you back in the service you get. I prefer the small music store with the Jay Tursers, because they are nice people.  Notes

Second, every one of these guys has a 45-day no hassle return policy which is legit (I've sent 4 or 5 of them back, no hassle. In every case I got a new guitar & it didn't cost a dime extra). Â I have absolutely no qualms about buying online under those conditions. And you get a guitar that's still in the box, not one that been touched by a thousand greasy hands. Â As for Sweetwater, they personally inspect and set up any guitar over $399 and they do a great job.
Lerxst1281733995
I have no real problem with buying on-line... It's not ideal, but as long as I can return it if there's something wrong with it, or I just don't like it, I don't have any fears... As I mentioned in another thread, the GC around here is a pretty bad environment for guitar shopping and all the other stores are like what Notes was talking about.. Lots of one brand of guitar that I don't want (like Dean) and the rest are cheapies that I really don't want.. (Stagg, Johnson, etc..) and there's a Daddy's Junky Music near the GC that I'll never buy from again, due to horrible customer service and bad experiences.. Â I've had some good luck with eBay.. But I'm leery about some of the stuff I see out there.. If something looks the slightest bit questionable, I'll leave it alone... There's a lot of people on eBay trying to get close to new prices for their used gear too... Even if it looks legit, I won't buy a guitar on eBay just to save 20 bucks.. garyelcrrt1281733995
And some of them think they can charge more than MF, and add on extra for shipping, like nobody would notice. Of course, if you don't take care of yourself...
