Differences between a Sheraton II and a Dot

Recommended Posts

I am new to the forum and playing. Are the differences in the Sheraton II and the Dot, primarily cosmetic and hardware quality? I like the Sheraton II, but wonder about spending that much money on my first guitar, especially as I have curious children.

Any thoughts?

five ply laminated maple and mahogany neck.

For me that was a good selling point. Stiff!

also it's a flatter neck on mine, and I like that.

I can get along with rounder ok.. my studio is fatter. but I prefer the thinner neck.

gold hardware and all that binding is cosmetic, but there sure is a lot of it.

the kids aren't going to damage it anymore without it, I don't think.

hmm. I just checked specs. new ones are different:

Pickups: 2 Humbuckers

Hardware: Gold

Scale: 24.75 in.

Nut Width: 1.68 in.

Neck Joint: Set

Neck Material: 3-piece Maple...................................

Fingerboard: Rosewood/Block and Triangle

Binding: Body/Neck/Headstock

Body Material: Laminated Maple

Top: Laminated Maple

Finishes: Ebony, Natural, Vintage Sunburst

otherwise it's the block inlays, multi ply binding, bound f holes, neck headstock binding, mulit ply bound pickguard.
