pempol
I have 2 casinos. I acquired one in 2003 from one of the band players in manila. It was made in japan with a serial no. 101088. In the blue sticker inside, it said kalamazoo, Michigan. Underneath it said made in Japan. The other one i ordered it from my friend living Georgia. It was made in Korea. It was brand new when it was shipped to me. It has an orange sticker.

charlie brown
Well, it IS an authentic 1966 "made in USA," for sure. However, way before the current insanity that's called the "Vintage" guitar craze, hit, it was refinished! I bought it used, decades ago, and the finish that was on it, was "Trashed" with spray paint, of many different colors, some of which had been actually peeled away, and painted over with a brush, another color! LOL! ANY Casino, at that time, was hard to find, for some reason? So, as "Graffiti" like, as it was, it was structurally sound...so, I bought it, for about 200(?) bucks. (Just found the old invoice...$150) I took it to a fellow I knew in L.A., that was (at that time) an Authorized Gibson Service Center/Restoration/Refinisher, and he refinished it (Nitro), to it's current condition. All this was, Gosh :>O, 30 years ago, now! Wow...time flies! So, the "Collectibility factor," was never really an issue, from the beginning, with the state it was in. And, as I mentioned, it was before all that (this) insanity had started, anyway. Who knew?! CB

Notes_Norton
Norton logging in here. I have a beautiful NAT made in 2001 in the Peerless plant (Korea). I suppose everybody on this forum has seen the pictures ;-) (I need to take more). I'm happy to hear that others love their Casinos as much as I love mine. The Casino seems to have a fan club. It is one sweet guitar! Notes
cabeza
Mine's a VS Peerless 06 Casino, and it's the first guitar I pick up when I get home from work. Love it 'cuz I can play it unplugged while I watch the idiot box. When I plug it straight into my Twin, it gives me a beautiful, dark clean tone. It is the one guitar I would break the glass for in case of a fire. I definitely want another at some point, either a black or cherry one. Mr. Jerrymac.. The first time I saw a Caiola was waaay back.. I think it was Richard Hell playing a beat up one in a photo. Never knew what the heck it was 'til I saw yours. That is one beautiful guitar, man! Don't see too many of those on the 'Bay, or anywhere else for that matter.
acousticworship
I have a natural finished 2005 Casino made in the Peerless plant. It's an absolutely fabulous guitar. I removed the pickguard. Here are some pictures of it.

Don't see too many of those on the 'Bay, or anywhere else for that matter.[/quote'] In the late '60s, Manny's had a Caiola Custom on display right as you walked into the store. That was the guitar I wanted (I had a Gibson ES-330 at the time). I finally got around to making a control plate for the Standard, someone had gutted the electronics and made a black plate with just a volume tone & toggle switch. Since I didn't think I would ever find the original electronics, I designed my own. The original had one slide switch between the volume & tone knobs that let you chose which pickup is on (it was either/or you couldn't have both). The five slide switches work like a Varitone. I made a three switch Varitone mounted on a Fender Jaguar switch plate. I put a standard toggle switch for the pickups on the bottom horn. I know, it's a rare vintage guitar, I shouldn't have done that. But it's not original, the control plate, the vibrola is not stock... The Custom is stock and in excellent condition, the Standard is my player. The records show less than 200 Caiolas were produced, I'm not sure if that's both models or just the Custom. They were supposed to the flagship of the thin-line Epis, but it was a big flop. There is a Custom on eBay right now, $1850 starting price with one bid. I had two guys who wanted to buy my Custom, both offered over $3,000, but I decided not to sell. Maybe someday...
