strat2
Fairly obvious at this point , Gibson's position : Don't know don't care, how else may we help you ......
V-Type
Yeah 2-3 weeks and no response is Not cool. My GC doesnt have any yet for comparison either. Odd.
strat2
I agree, very uncool.... Rondo has a very slim taper right now , I've had fantastic luck with most of the guits I've bought there. The taper is awesome if your into slim , seems most aren't but I'm crazy about slim necks. 17mm 1srt fret 21mm 12th fret I don't think they've gone that thin since 1959..... I'm into looks too though big time, good looking axes make me play better LOL.... So I'm going to suggest the perfect LP over at our Alma metre ?..... Maybe he'll make a few for us, I have a draft written out , will finish it this weekend and post it. It will be composite features of 3 or 4 models he now sells, so from each one is proof it can be done, from bindings to frets.... I can't do any drawings, but I'll try to post exhibit photos to help get the idea across..... =D>/
strat2
I found the GX this morning in a feb MF catalog..... 16th fret joint, and no mention of Speed Taper with D profile..... Obviously at the time, they didn't have the Speed Taper or the D profile.
strat2
Ha hhaaa, Gibson couldn't be bothered to respond to emails from numerous requests for info from several potential Gx buyers. They are now in stock at MF, and the photo has been removed and replaced by the guitar I have absolutely no use for, so much for innovation.... I'm sure many of you will like the GX, just not for me , I've owned many gibby, epi and knock of lp's with 16th fret neck joints....don't need another near $1000 guit with terrible 24th fret access.... strat2
Amazing -------------- After all this time epiphone still can't be bothered to respond. MF took down the old photos as I mentioned. Look at tHem now:-({|= ......the close up of the neck joint is of the guitar I wanted to buy.... 18th fret joint, however that photo does not the other guitars posted on the MF page. They still don't even know what version they are selling. Meanwhile .... Epiphone could care less.............:D and the guit of my dreams is ===========wet.............. RotcanX
...so if fret access is a major concern, get the SG or the Futura instead. In fact, the best of the crop is the EM-2 with its long scale length (25.5"); promises to hold intonation better when using dropped tunings. I do like the futura by the way it's killer, but my applications call for Les Pauls or Strats / lately Pauls.......
RotcanX
Sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too. Les Pauls were never renowned for upper fret access. Anyway, it's a shame that Epi published prototype pictures that show a different neck joint than the final production models... but what are you gonna do? Hope you find what you are looking for eventually.

Read through the thread , I have a request to Gibby that was posted years ago, it can be done. To a large extrent the guit exists as a knock off, I want: bindings/neck inset/ inlays/ pups profile/board radius to mesh it is all out there.... Epi posted all of what I wanted , sadly they don't have what they posted.........
