What will be your next Epiphone electric guitar ?

Recommended Posts

Yeah' date=' I bought a "Highway One" Strat and "Texas Tele" both, when they were barely 500 bucks. So GLAD I did...

But, I love my Epi and Gibson semi-hollow bodies, too! They compliment one another, not compete!

At least, to my way of thinking!

True 'dat. I used to think that I had to be either a "Strat guy" or a "Les Paul guy" or an "SG guy" etc... but now, I like the diversity the different mainstream models bring. I'm at a point in my financial and musical journey where buying new guitars is for diversification, not for upgrading. I'd have to hit a new financial milestone for it to be about upgrading again.

Don't know' date=' like my Wildkat for now.

I'd like a Wildkat, but I just don't ever use a Bigsby tailpiece. Never have. All of my Gretsches have one, and I wish none of them did. To me, a "trem" should be a $69 option, not a standard. The first three Ventures albums suffered from those damned Fender trems.

Elitist Casino. I'm sorry that they discontinued so much of the Elitist line and are focusing so much on the Les Paul models. The world has a glut of Les Paul models from just about every country.

Me too, Jeffrey...

I wish they'd bring back the Elitist Riviera, at least!

Every time I see a wildcat, The GAS gets a little worse, there's just a couple of things I want more. I've played Strats all my life and never have been a fan of the trem either. The only time mine have ever been on the guitars was to make sure they threded properly. That's it !

Yeah, but I had never liked the "hard tail" Strats, for some reason...they just didn't "feel" right.

Then, I read sometime later, that EC doesn't use a trem (blocks them off), but likes the tone, from trem equipped

bodies, so I guess (amazingly enough) I wasn't the only one, that felt like that?

But, I've heard other players, do just fine, on hard-tail Strats, so..who knows?

This is probably straying a bit too much (cough, cough mo*d***or) but its hard to get the same kind of vibrato on the fretboard I think with the hardtails. I just think that its not the tone due to the hardtail its the responsiveness of the strings to vibrato played on the neck with the trem springs, does that make sense ? At least that's my interpretation of EC comments and my own experience for what it's worth!

Yeah, it does make sense, Bluesstringer...and I think I read that, too. It's an interesting idea...has anyone

tested this theory, with a hard tail semi-hollow body (Sheri, Riviera, Casino, Wildkat, or AlleyKat), vs one

with a bigsby or similar vibrato tailpiece, to see if that same "mojo" works there, too?

I did get more sustain, on both of my LP Junior Lites, when I replaced the

standard stop tailpiece, with a TP-6 tuner tailpiece. And no, it wasn't my imagination. LOL!

Denser mass, more string vibrations, seemingly.

I've heard the same with lightweight alu-tail-pieces. So that leads me to believe it's all down to quality of material and construction.
