pete1965
I narrowed it down to these Epi's, the AJ500M or the DR500M. Either one with electronics also. Can anyone comment about the two as far as size, playability, comfort. I did play both of them and they both sound great. I am more of a beginner type that knows a few chords and can play some songs, however would like to improve and I thought these Masterbilts were good for the price range. Thanks for the help.. byrds1965
I have both and I would have to say the DR500M. Search the posts on the AJs. Mine has gotten very humpy behind the bridge. It is in for repair now as a top brace seems to have pulled loose too. I just looked at a new AJ at GC a couple of weeks ago and it was a new gloss top one and it had a top crack from the bridge to the bottom. Showed the guys at GC and they said "oh yeah that happens" Bottom line I'm not sure Epiphone has the AJs figured out just yet (tops, bracing and bridges). MY DR which is older by a year rock solid no problems at all. Maybe I have missed them but I have not seen any posts with DR issues.
