Are the Masterbilt still fitted with bone nut/saddle?

How can you tell if its bone?

grab a sewing needle or pin with a pair of pliers or hemostats and heat it until it is red hot. Poke the saddle or nut with the tip, if it's plastic the needle will burn into the piece, if it's bone it won't.

It works.

That's a good idea. I'll have to remember that. I know mine is bone because I removed mine to sand it down to lower the action and I've shaved enough bone and plastic to know how they sand. I must say, I doubted that it was bone just looking at it because of the intricate angles on the top of the saddle. They must machine those saddles or something. I did smooth some sharp edges on the top when I shaved it down.

G'day,

I recently had a bone nut fitted to my EJ300SCE and there is a noticeable improvement in tone sufficient to convince me to do it on my other guitars.....just gotta get that bone back off the dog. Here Boy ~
