dubstar
I don''t really see the point in feuding with the moderators, but in my opinion, any thread on the beatles is only going to further reinforce the fact that they played 3 casinos and 1 texan...and therefore sell more guitars

JefferySmith
He didn't say they were bug-eaters!!!!! My wife is of Korean descent, and we shop at a Korean market all of the time. On the shelves are cans of beetle grubs just like we would buy a can of beans. And I don't think the Koreans think of themselves as eating vermin. larkin38
I don`t know if anyone has said this before. But... I have been a Joan Jett fan since her days in The Runaways. Not so much anymore, but... This signiture guitar is NOT the Melody Maker she has played for years. First she bought it from Eric Carmen of The Raspberries and painted it white from it`s original color. He had Gibson humbuckers installed. She replaced them with two custom made pups. This sig guitar is the one that REPLACED her sig guitar.
Funkwire
I personally can totally understand why they endorsed Joan Jett with this guitar. Makes perfect sense. The real complaint with a signature guitar that I have is the BJ Armstrong Les Paul Junior. WTF!!!! There are WAY more players that could be strongly linked to this guitar. Like in no order' date=' Lesley West, Keith Urban, Johnny Thunder, etc. I think that one is kinda rediculous. But, even that one is a pretty cool guitar. Just my blah blahs........[/quote'] Leslie West declined to have an LP Jr. sig model. He said it didn't make sense when the name 'Les Paul' is already on the guitar. Dave
I wonder how many of Gibson's Signaturees actually play their Signature model? Slash was quoted in Guitar World as saying something to the effect that the Epi Slash model was good enough to be his touring guitar and that he was surprised when he tried it out. That was his first impression when they handed it to him for evaluation. A later review in the magazine rated it highly and commented that the neck with the heavy shouldered C shape felt natural and made it easy to play over the standard neck profile. They also liked the Duncan alnico II pickups and the ease in which they could generate pinch harmonics and squeals from the harmonic points on the neck. The guitar really got good reviews. I guess playability is a good reason to like a guitar. In our case, we play Epi's because we can get more guitar for the money and feel comfortable modding an Epi. Although I don't feel the need to mod my Gibson LP, I'm not shy about tearing into my Epi and changing out hardware, since it's replaceable at a reasonable price if I screw it up. As a result, I have an excellent axe for a low price after mods. If I were grossing $250,000 per concert, I'd have a slew of expensive guitars on stage. After all, most of them would be donated by the manufacturer to get the headstock on camera with my fingers around the neck.

I was wondering because I remember reading about Slash's favourite Gibson Les Pauls not being Gibsons at all but custom jobs from a luthier(can't come up with the name but the guy passed away a good couple of years ago). Even when Gibson handed Slash his first signatures he continued to favour the "clones". Other Signature players are Angus Young and Tony Iommi both of which I've never seen playing their Signature-models. Angus favouring his vintage SGs and Tony his John Birch made SGs. JefferySmith
I wonder how many of Gibson's Signaturees actually play their Signature model? Carlos Santana seems to be one of those who wholeheartedly supports a certain guitar...until he gets GAS and another model. I know that he has been totally smitten with a Yamaha and now a PRS Model named after him.
RotcanX
I remember reading about Slash's favourite Gibson Les Pauls not being Gibsons at all but custom jobs from a luthier(can't come up with the name but the guy passed away a good couple of years ago). Even when Gibson handed Slash his first signatures he continued to favour the "clones". Apparently, on tour, Slash plays a pretty plain LP Standard with a three-piece plain top. The guitar has had its neck broken three times, and as a result of being refretted a couple of times the radius on the fingerboard flattens out to 14" at the upper fret end. And it was a factory second.
