Valve Junior speaker cabinet - plugging into combo?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I recently bought a Valve Junior combo, and my other half is as I type on his way home from work with one of the 1 x 12" speaker cabinets that normally goes with the head (spotted at an end of year sale today).

I've got the V3 combo with multiple speaker outputs, but I realised I don't know - how many ohms is the Valve Junior speaker cabinet - ie: which connector should I plug it into? Options are 4, 8 or 16 ohms - the combo is using the 16 ohm normally.

Thanks all!

16 ohms. enjoy the amp!

If you want to use the cabinet with the internal speaker as well you can very easily add a parallel jack either cabinet and run both from the 8 ohm output.

Thanks for the quick responses!

Yep, I've been enjoying the Valve Junior combo for a couple of months now, but wanted to try it with the larger speaker, and it was a great price today :-)

Got it home and setup about an hour ago and it sounds great through the 12" - a bit more bottom end and generally just a bit more clarity or something. The crunch sounds HUGE!

Thanks again!

WELCOME to this 1/4 of the forum sonic_echidna! I've noticed a couple of your posts over in electrics, so I know you're not new to the Epi passion found around here. Glad to hear you're enjoying your VJr. We all do -- and we range from tube upgraders for tone tweaks to flat out "hot rodders" (if I may borrow from another new member's metaphor). Stick around and share your musical thoughts and VJr. experiences.

Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby..., I'm going to play on:-"
