jcwillow777
Make sure you don't use an instrument cable.
strangedogs
all through the 70's I used a standard instrument cable with My Marshall 100-watt stack. Never knew any different and never had problems. :-
pohatu771
Why shouldn't we use instrument cables with our stacks? As far as I can guess, it would have something to do with mono and stereo... I have a stereo cable on my stack now.
EpiEric
Speaker cables and instrument cables are very different designs. Instrument cables are coaxial and are designed to carry low current from your pickups to the amplifier.. Speaker cables are made to carry the high current from an amp to the cabinet. Best case scenario using an instrument cable for a speaker cable - bad sound or lost frequency response. Worst case scenario - fried cable, amplifier, or damaged speakers. For the cost, a speaker cable is cheap insurance.
