JefferySmith
I now have three Elitists, and they have all humbled me. And they have taught me why Epiphone cannot eliminate that line of guitars. If they did, that factory would still produce these gems. Without Epiphone as the middleman. Truth be told, if Epiphone didn't belong to Gibson, they should eliminate the "standard" line and just do the Elitists. Pure Epiphone quality. At the top of the game. I have the top of the line Gretsch, the top of the line Heritage, and the top of the line Eastman. But the Elitists are a cut above. And all three are finished better than the ES-335 I bought in the mid-60's. I just got my Epiphone Elitist Casino today, compliments of my $1,200 tax rebate. I had to cough up the other $200. What a wonderful instrument. Light, acoustic enough to be used without an amplifier, and flawless. I am unworthy, and must practice more to bring my skills up to those of the people who made this guitar. More Elitists, fewer Slashes, and fewer Les Pauls. Give us some variety here, and it will be a win-win situation.

Steven Lister
I tell you' date=' it's like handling a newborn baby![/quote']Congratulations on your new one. Any chance I can adopt your AlleyKat now? (you probably won't have time to play it anymore and may need the spare "room" LOL) As for the Elite/Elitists, my 2003 Elite honeyburst LP (still stock) outshines every Gibby LP I've ever touched and five years on the "new" is still on for me. Hope your "newness" stays strong as well. Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby..., I'm going to play on :-

tulsaslim
With 35 electric guitars I do my best to play them all but last night I broke out the elitist dot in my avatar and after playing it for about 15 minutes I found myself wondering how I can ever force myself to put it back in the case. But then I realize if I don't I'll have 34 other electric guitars gathering dust (including 8 other elitists).

JEPI
HNGD to you Jeff. Just between you and tulsaslim that's 70 guitars!!! I wonder how many Epiphones we have collectively on this forum. Can anyone set up a way we can count how many we have between us all here???? I only have 3 but that's 3 more than 0.... I'm curious. Would it be close to 250, 300, 500????..........J

I have the same number of guitars (mix of electrics and acoustics, though), and did the same thing last night: played my natural Elitist Dot. My tale differs in another respect, though: it is the one guitar I ALWAYS leave on a stand! I mix up the others weekly so they get some love. Red 333
Red' date=' I think maybe you & I might be the only one's here that also own 'Red 333's'.[/quote'] Hey, Slim! How's your 333 treating you? Mine's been a fine guitar. If you ever go for #36, you should try out the ES 339. I got a red one with a big, fat '50's neck. It's great! I got a blem on MF during a 15% off blems sale, and the only thing wrong with it was the finish had some scuffs where rims met the sides of the case, since the laquer was so new. They came out easily with a little polish. Man it's a nice guitar, and the sale price on top of the sale price made it a great buy. For a Gibby, it's a great value even at full price, though. It's just like an ES 335, only smaller: full gloss finish, bound neck and frets, tight rosewood fretboard, etc. Beatiful neck and other wood. It's got '57 classics, which are great pickups, but they sound a little punchier in the 339 than in the bigger ES 335. Plus (and this is very important), it's got a a very THICK pickguard, so the white stripe on the edge really pops. The ONLY improvement I would make to my Elitist Dot would be to get a pickguard like that for it : ) The 339 I got is very resonant and loud unplugged. Late the other night, I decided to plug it in at a late night volume, and it took a few seconds before I realized the idle was still on on the amp! Even though I've got a few Elitist LPs and a Gibson Les Paul VM, I'm not in love with that size of guitar. The 339, while similar in size to a Les Paul, feels way more balanced and comfortable to me. The chunky '50's neck is great, too (you can get a slim neck as well). I think that's going to be my last guitar for a while, unless I find an insanely great deal on an Elitist Broadway. I'd still like to have one of those. It's always nice to "talk" to you, Slim. Hang on to them Elitists! Red
tulsaslim
Red Yup, as soon as I sell my house there'll be a 339 at my new one. One of my brothers bought one so I've had a chance to play one &, like you, I love the body size. The 333 is great. I'll never understand why this guitar didn't take off more than it did. It is exactly what Gibson intended it to be: a workingman's 335, with a control cavity to make it easier to work on and hotter pickups designed for live stage work. I'm really glad I got one before they were gone. In fact, if Gibby were still making them I'd be real tempted to buy another one.
