TommyK
Not sure about the exchange rate, but at $1599 US for an Epi 'Bird, I'd say your friend got took. If a Gibson.. Not a bad price. '66 was a very good year for Epis.
Guest
hey guys. i'm jeff. i pop in here occasionally. i saw this shopping around. its in a shop about an hour from here in ann arbor' date=' mi. the seller seems cool - my friend just bought a new hummingbird there for 1599. supposedly 300 off. i know nothing about this guitar but thought some of you might like to see it. if so, enjoy.http://www.herbdavidguitarstudio.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=137&products_id=2978[/quote'] Herb David in A2 is a reputable dealer but not known for any fantastic bargains. The FT-90 El Dorado is essentially a mid-60's Gibson Hummingbird with a 25 1/2" scale. $2400 is a mid range/average price for that model so much is dependent upon the condition of the actual guitar (some of those mid 60's Epiphones had pretty skinny necks which can be problematic for some players and some are known for needing neck re-sets and for having top sinkage (especially in the anterior bridge area) which can add some cost to the guitar in order to make it playable) and with cash in hand you may be able to do better than that...$1600 for a new Gibson Hummingbird would be an exceptional approaching extraordinary bargain...for an Epiphone Hummingbird I think it's called aggravated rape...
