sricabla
I just bought a Epi 58 Explorer Korina. I think the construction is excellent. The action and setup was great right out of the box.The price was right for this instrument. My only gripe is the electronics. For the price you can't go wrong, but you really do have to replace the electronics.Either the pick ups or the pots. But other than that, the guitar is excellent. As for the hardware, I see that it is a cheaper version of Gibson hardware. Is the Gibson hardware absolutely 100% compatible with the Explorer? Has anyone ever changed out the hardware for real Gibson hardware? I can see changing out the bridge in the Explorer. Thanks
JRizZ
Changing the pots / switch / jack costs very little and is pretty easy, so you may as well do it. When I did it in my Flying V I figured that if I really messed it up I could take it to my local guitar shop and they'd fix it for me! But it is really easy, and I have zero experience of doing anything like that before. Also I changed the pickups, but obviously that costs a little more. RotcanX
All I did with mine was remove the pickup covers. Plus some purely cosmetic changes. Still thinking about a 496R/Dirty Fingers setup eventually, but the pots and switch are just fine.
