Robot guitars

Even if Epi did have a robot guitar' date=' it would probably still have a binding plastic nut, anyway.[/quote']

Elitists have bone nuts stock.

But I personally would pay an extra 50 bucks everytime for a graphite nut.

I have changed several of my Epiphones to graphite nuts. I wish they offered the deluxe series/limited editions they have out now and then with graphite nuts and charge extra for the upgrade making it a real deluxe or limited vs just the flame top or color.

Now if they could make a guitar that could change its look (say from Black to a nice AAA cherry sunburst' date=' to a honeyburst, to a Goldtop (without affecting the sound of course), I would want one of those.[/quote']

The Japanese have already worked on this in terms of the textile industry. They make fabrics right now that change color depending on the amount of light that is reflected upon them.

Nanotechnology.....ah, the applications are mind boggling. It's only a matter of time before it changes the music industry....(including yes, having a guitar that changes color. Imagine a sunburst that went from cherry to honey to tobacco depending on how much light it was refracting!)

I'd liek it if you could tack 50 bucks on an LP junior and get a graph nut.

BASF Podcast: Magical Colors Thanks to Nanotechnology

LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany | Posted on June 20th, 2008

Normal color, like we know from everyday life, doesn't change its color impression when you look at it from different directions. With the help of nanotechnology researchers at BASF have now managed to develop colors that change its color impression when you look at it from different directions. And even more effects are possible: The socalled "mechano optical colors" change their color when you stretch them.

BASF Corporate Communications started a regular bilingual Podcast service in April 2007 to report on BASF's innovations and research and development activities in an easy-to-understand, informative and entertaining way.

Listen to the audio reportage with Dr. Reinhold Leyrer from BASF Polymer research.

Page plays a Transperformance Les paul which the robot seems similar to. I have heard a few songs where he has used it, and granted as a huge Page fan might be biased but I like what he did with it.. Maybe not for all, but it fills a niche I think... Would I buy a Transperformance or a robot?? Sure if I had the spare change....
