jcwillow777
+1 on the Burstbuckers, I've got a Pro in my neck and a II in my bridge. They sound great. If I was to do it again I might try Pros all the way around.
RotcanX
Well, the '61 reissue SG comes with '57 Classics; and the VOS SG Standard (most likely based on a '64 prototype, although they don't tell) has Burstbucker I and II pickups. So that's what Gibson feels is best for that 'SG tone'. And the BB Pros are pretty fine too.

I like 57s better and that is what I should have gotten. Not sure what is in my faded Gibson they sound close to 57s. My 1965 G400 not too bad but may upgrade the PUs at some point to 57s. Burstbucker1281734065
I put Burstbucker Pros in my epi LP and it is a tone monster. I put a '57 classic (neck) and a '57 Classic plus in the bridge of the Wilshire. I didn't think the ouput would be greatly different in the classic plus but it is. It's not a problem, it is just a bit louder than the '57 classic. In any event, all these pups sound great. The BB Pro's have a little nastier "bite" to them that the '57's don't have, the '57's are super smooth and creamy especially clean, and the ouput of the BB pro's is much higher. Choices, choices.......
The_Sentry
+1 on the Burstbuckers' date=' I've got a Pro in my neck and a II in my bridge. They sound great. timmyinpajamas
thanks for everyones input .. i decided most likely i will go with the burstbuckers .. so say i went ahead and only changed one for now .. should i change the neck or bridge first ?
jcwillow777
If you are only doing one, I'd change the neck first cause it is a really muddy sounding pickup IMO.

copper1281734000
and i was wondering if the pickups were any good Do you think their good? We can't tell you if their good or not. And changing pickups isn't the first thing you could do. For less than a $1, you could change out the capacitor if you want the tone brighter or darker. Ask for something else. Muskank Sally
Duncan SH-6 Set has a Duncan SH-6n and an SH-6b for the nicest hottest sound imaginable. Very close to Burstbuckers even if it is ceramic coil. I just can't understand why no one can else has any idea about these pickups. I think they're awesome. "A SH-6 very close to a Burstbucker"... Which BB would that be? BB1, BB2, BB3 or BB Pro? The Seymour Duncan "Hotrod" set SH-4/SH-2 would offer some nice varied sounds for almost the same money as a single BB.

They are Very versatile and I think they sound very nice clean. But when you need the crunch they can definitely supply it. They are alot more tame than a Dimarzio Super Distortion that in my opinion has a hard overbite that doesn't clean up very well at all. Of course the 'Hotrodded Humbucker Set' is the bomb but the SH-6 pair just ups the ante a bit. And for the same price.
timmyinpajamas
i read the reviews on musician friends for the sh-6 and it seems it will be to heavy for me .. i mostly keep it clean and a lil distortion sometimes .. i would like a pickup good for both but mainly clean .. =D thanks for everyones input
