Steven Lister
Given the recent threads from VJr. owners seeking speaker changes/upgrades, thought I would pass along this informative link: http://svvintageamps.com/speaker.php#question13 Came across it last year when doing my own search. Also found one that did an A/B on Chinese versus English made Celestions. Supposedly measured with instrumentation that essentially concluded -- no difference at all. Can't seem to find it my old archive, but if I do I will include it later. [edit]-- www.eastwoodguitars.com/pdfs/TQRFeb06.pdf (not the one I was thinking about, but..., skip to about page 16 to the speaker reviews for some good speaker comments by Avatar's owner -- plus some fun tone descriptions to help sort out the tone lingo many use like "gritty" "greasy" etc.. Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby..., I'm going to slide on:-"
slim_blues_boy
good info Steven, thanks. actually I don't know that current Celestion manufactured is in China. but it doesn't mean that the Chinese made is bad right ? coz I drop my choice on Vintage30 for my first 'diy' cab'.... hehe
Just Strum
Good post. I am getting ready to mod some old speaker cabs to hook up to the Vjr, and soon to arrive (I hope) Classic 30.
