RotcanX
As it's your second guitar I'd recommend that you hold out for the Studio. The LP-100 is really more of a 'first' guitar IMO; I'm thinking you're ready to take a step closer to the big leagues and the Studio will do nicely in that respect. It's worth the wait. iansmitchell
Studio. Set neck, better wood, better everything. Once you get some more money later, get some GFS pups and a wiring upgrade.
TWANG
I've had both, sold the lp100. I put the studio's pups in the lp100 and it sounded a great deal better. I put Kent Armstrong pups in the studio, and it sounded just right. The two guitars had very similar quality in build and finish. They both played quite nicely, out of the box. They both took a very little bit of fretwork to meet my demands. The studio had a thicker body. The lp100 I put grovers on, the studio came with them. The studio can be made into a much better sounding and playing guitar, and is one you would probably wish to keep.. it would be a great backup, a great jamming guitar, a great home player, too...the lp100 less so, but it's well enough made that if you can find a sound you like, no reason not to keep it. In short, the studio gets my vote. It's the one I kept. New nut, fretwork, new CTS pots, Sprague caps, Kent Armstrong p90 neck, Vintage C bridge, new knobs, straplocks and I just got a new epi case for it. If you search you may find one on ebay.. mine is the sunburst.. but I believe there were some different models, earlier models, which had a thinner body.. and no grovers?.. so don't go that way.
