layboomo Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I'd like to see a technical section where an Epiphone rep would step in and answer a question or two about Epiphone products. A friendly contribution to the threads from time to time would let us know that Eiphone is happy that we are here and discussing their products. After all' date=' there have been multiple times where we kicked around a question, especially about the sources of certain instruments and ended up with conjecture about where something was made and when they stopped making them there. How about the endless discussions about "What wood is my Epi made of?" Then there's the age old question about who makes the pickups and are they different on this model or that model. I could go on and on. The Epi moderators could provide some great info here. [/quote'] Perhaps they don't want educated consumers????

charlie brown Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 As to tech's or a tech section to answer questions? As I've stated here, before...the Rickenbacker Forum has techs that DO that, and even Mr. John Hall (Ric's CEO) gets involved, with the discussions, on occasion. So, it's not unheard of, at all. Sure would be nice here! Could certainly quell some bad information, speculation, that happens when folks don't have much else, to go on. Would seem (to me, anyway) to be a "win, win" situation. But...??? CB

I have brought up John Hall before and he does take the time to answer questions which is nice. I begged him years ago to make the 360-12 with a 21 fret neck again so I could buy a new one but he said no, so I found another vintage and at this point I don't need 2 in my collection again. The Gibson rep who was with the Custom Shop trailer seemed very well informed and friendly, so there are good Gibson guys out there who know what is going on. Every time I have delt with Gibson/Epiphone they were very helpful and got back to me with the information I requested including tracking down a J160E for me. I just don't think the forum is high on the priority list.
charlie brown Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 Well, obviously it isn't. But, in some ways it should be! (At least, more so, than it appears to be). As has been stated, time and time again, this forum generates ideas, feedback, and GAS! Which all leads to better products, and MORE SALES! And, it's GLOBAL...What more, could they ask?! Gibson CS, on MOST things, is good about getting back to you, and are most helpful, and courteous, too. But, there can always be "improvements!" The forum improvements mentioned, and a more up to date Epiphone Web site, would be a good start! ;>) CB
