Did GAS from this forum result in any of your Epi Purchases?

ABSOLUTELY!

A member on here (suplex) gave the other members a heads-up on an ebay auction and now I'm a proud owner of an Epi SG Jr. Here's my G400 with my Jr. . Wouldn't have it without him.

Yes. After getting my Epi LP custom (and dumping a ton of money into that) I wanted...well, a cheaper guitar. One that I could experiment on, or just abuse to no end. (I originally bought the Epip custom for that....but it turned out to be such a nice guitar!)

I was going to get a Special II, but I ended up with this flame top LP (on the left, with the custom on the right) for a reasonable price. I still have a bit of gas for an Iommi model, but at this point it's hard for me to justify another solid body electric purchase because I don't play all the guitars I have NOW on a daily basis.

Result may be a little strong but it was a contributing factor. I play in an oldies band with a bunch of fellow old farts. I have wanted a semi and have been coveting a Guild Starfire 4 for a long time to go with my X-170T (and Fenders). The other guitar player has a very nice Sheraton in Natural. We thought originally it was a Matsumoku but it now appears that it was made in Korea in the late '80s. Regardless, it is a GREAT guitar. One night I played it at practice and loved it so I started reading this forum and reading about them.

I started watching them on Ebay and decided I either wanted a black or the original red-brown sunburst, or perhaps a white one. Didn't want one of the new vintage sunbursts for some reason and didn't really want to be twinners with the other guitar player. So saw this black one on Ebay and it was staying pretty low. Got up to about a $255 price showing so I sniped it with about 6 seconds to go and got it for $296.

Now once I got it someone posted a picture of an Ebony Gibson ES-339 with a Gold Bigsby that helped me decide that I wanted to put a Bigsby on it. So that GAS was definitely fueled by the forum.

Anyway, that's my story.

Also have a Del Rey that this forum had nothing to do with the buying. (Now if someone wants to buy it FROM me ...)

It would have, if I had any money. After hearing so much good about Sheratons and Dots, I've almost bought one so many times. I've actually been tempted to buy an SG a time or two... fortunately, not liking them saved me all but one, the last time (when I found one I liked), I just didn't have any money.

The only guitar I've bought it the time I've been here has been my Strat, actually.

Hi Dig(ger),

I would say that reading this forum acted as a catalyst in the purchase of my MIC Casino VS, i.e. it took me further down the path I had already decided on without deciding me one way or the other (because I had already made up my mind).

I wouldn't be hanging around here if I didn't own at least one Epiphone guitar, and I wouldn't own any Epiphone guitars unless I got GAS from this place!

Several months ago, on another message board I frequent, someone was asking for recommendations on a decent, cheap guitar. An Epi LP Jr. was suggested. I thought 'for that price, you can't go wrong. I should get one for myself.' Then I thought maybe if I spent a little bit more I could something better and ended up with a Dot. Then I found an LP Jr. and a Broadway on Craig's List, so now I've got 3 of the buggers! Not that I'm complaining, like.

Nope. My G.A.S. was aquired when I first saw the Epiphone Les Paul Classic Quilt-top in transparent blue in the pages of the Musician's Friend catalog and said to myself, "Mat, you MUST have that guitar, in that lovely blue." So, after getting rear-ended in my Jeep by some drunken broad shouldn't of hopped in a car, I took some of the insurance money, and placed an order with them for what you see pictured below. So it is somewhat of a "storied" guitar. Best 500 dollars I ever spent. The SECONDARY G.A.S. happened when I began to frequent this very forum. When I say secondary I mean, with everone talking about modding guitars, well, I too hopped on the "bandwagon", as it were. So, the end result is a fantastic guitar (to me), and made even better. I'm content with this guitar, she's the best one I've ever owned, particularly because the alterations were done by yours truly, and techy did all the..."techy" work, which was minimal. So in short (yeah right), this forum had a significant part in the hop-ups done, and besides, yous guys are the bomb, and you know it.

I owned two prior to arriving here (SG and Dot - just realized, both of those I got for free). I think I was in the process of getting the WildKat when I joined the forum. So none of the past and current Epi's were influenced by the forum. However, my gas for Sheraton's and Casino's certainly has been fueled by this forum.

Yeah, I'd like to get a Dot, and do a "335 Freak-Out" on it. B.B.-ize it. If not for this forum, probably wouldn't have given them a second look. But it'd HAVE to be red, I'm a sucker for a red 335 with a peace sign sticker below the tailpiece. Screw the 3rd pickup and the varitone (I think Alvin's guitar had a varitone), as long as it's red.

Indirectly. I joined the forum shortly after getting my Dot Studio because I wasn't quite satisfied

with its sound. Seeing that pickup swaps were a realistic and common thing to do, I began that

strange quest for pickups that would work for me. To make a long shory stort, I installed GFS

Mean 90s and my Dot is wunderbar.

Shortly after getting my first Epiphone guitar (Sheraton II NA) in June of 2006, I stumbled upon this forum. I've

become addicted to both the Epiphone Electrics Forum and my Sheraton II. However, with constant reading and

contributing to the forum I have found that I did get G.A.S. from what I heard from a lot of the guys on the forum about their guitars and seeing the pictures. Almost as bad as pornography in some respects[-x . LOL!!!

It took me almost 2 years (April 2008) before I had the money to acquire my second Epiphone Electric guitar,

a Les Paul Standard Plain-Top VS. After acquiring my second Epi Electric my G.A.S. has subsided some, but you guys

don't help much in that department. I do play in a band, so it's not like I just get them to collect them. For now

I am happy with my two Epiphone Electric guitars aforementioned. I am G.A.S.ing though for one with P-90 pups,

so if I do get another it will be either a Casino or a '56 Gold Les Paul=p~

I'm currently looking... I haven't been looking at guitars this "actively" since February when I bought my Strat. I really shouldn't buy another guitar, but I feel like I could justify an electric with humbuckers or a new acoustic.

And actually, once I put new strings on my acoustic, I couldn't really justify that... it feels very bad now, but it doesn't normally.

I could also put some money (about the cost of a new guitar) into repairing the Gibson...

Absoposilutely!!!! My latest purchase (yesterday), was a DIRECT result of this forum, and information and photos

supplied by, one of our fellow members! Not only do we all get "GAS" here...we get great information,

and really helpful ideas, "heads up," on where to find what we're looking for...from fun, and knowledgeable people!

Only real "down" side, is maybe it promotes "too much GAS," at times...LOL!, and some strange "thread deletion activity,"

from the "monitors," on occasion. Otherwise, it's great!

Jeff you have the most chronic GAS I could imagine. You have a brand spanking new SG, less than a week old and a re-pickuped Dot you've had back from the shop for maybe 2 weeks. GO PLAY YOUR GUITARS!!!!!!!!!!

This forum is a great source of infomation and fustration of things I want to buy or should have bought like a MIJ Casino in burst but seemed wrong at the time because the back was a soild color but noticed it because of the 3 color burst.

I forget who posted the photo of the turquoise Wildkat but I wanted one and tried to find one only to find they discontinued the turquoise. I had a credit coming from an amp I had sold so gave up and got the Alleykat in the trans black, so in a round about way the forum is responsible for that guitar. That's my story anyway and I'm sticking to it in case my fiance asks how that guitar came about. I own 2 guitars in black and this has chrome rather than gold so I'm sure she has noticed..............maybe not.

This forum contributed directly to the purchase of 4 Epiphone guitars and a Vjr head/cab, and indirectly to the purchase of several other guitars and gear. I had never heard of Elitist guitars before I came to the forum, and I know own 2. Sad to say, but Epi's customer service is very much along the lines of the old fable about the boy holding 2 cookies in the cookie jar, but couldn't get his hand out of the jar's opening without dropping one of the cookies, and he just...couldn't...make...himself do it.

Not with my SG, as I was in the market for a new guitar and was on holidays and just hit all th eguitar shops whwen away, origionally wanted a Cort X11, but ended up with the SG, much better guitar by far.

y son was with me when we where away and he said to me "dad the guitar will pick you not the other way around" sort of right he was.

I'm looking at a couple a Epi's now and should hopefully have them this week ](*,) ](*,)/

However sense I've been on here I have learn't a lot about Epi's and have now got a real love for them, and I've learn't heaps from the good people here.
