joeymetro
Epiphone Guitar models. What does the SG weigh? Les Paul can be chambered. Flying V????
iansmitchell
SGs are around 5-7 pounds, IIRC. Flying Vs can be REALLY light, or kinda heavy. I'd say it avarages 6 or so, but it changes. Dots are a little under 7. Les pauls are 9-11 pounds, less if chambered, obviously. X-plorers seem to be even heavier than les pauls, on occasion. I'd say 8-10 pounds. RotcanX
I've seen some Epi SGs swing the scales at eight pounds. Had a 2004 DW-made one that really was overweight. Fortunately the newer EE models seem to me a lot better. I'll try to remeber to bring my scale in tomorrow and take some measurements.
Digger
My 'DW" G400 weighs a ton, fortunately I play sitting down. I haven't got an accurate way of measuring it but I would guess 9 to 10 pounds ~ Dig
iansmitchell
My dot is incredibly light, however. I'd say like, maybe even 5.5-6. The tone is very deep though, I love it acoustic as much as plugged in.
Roswell
Agree, my Dot's a bit lighter than my strat knockoff (which is about 8 pounds). The body's bigger so it feels heavier, though (at least to me).
Suicidehummer
My Un-chambered Classic feels like 7-8. Haven't measured it, but it's a lightweight. EE serial.
Stevie Nazarenie
what about a les paul double cutaway. i assume they are as thick and the cutaway is the only difference?

iansmitchell
what about a les paul double cutaway. i assume they are as thick and the cutaway is the only difference? Most of those(though not all) are flat-tops also, so they are around SG weight.

joeymetro
I would have thought the Sheraton and the studios would be lighter.
Suicidehummer
I would have thought the Sheraton and the studios would be lighter. The SG is half the size of those though.

My G40065 reissue thing is an I model and is the heavist SG I have ever had. Heavier than either of my bandmates LP or Epiphone LP. The thing makes my shoulder hurt and is not at all neck heavy. Don't have a scale but this thing is heavy.

What's an I serial mean again... and for that matter, what happened to Iconoclast? I miss Uncle Al's funny stories and such.
byrds1965
I = the Saien plant Korea. I also have a UC = I forget now but Korean company with a plant in China now it weighs inbetween and an EE, selling off, lightest of the bunch. My Gibson faded SG was about the same as the UC one I have now.
