RotcanX
Check out the SG page on the Gibson site. Where oh where are the SG Menace, the SG Goddess, the SG GT? http://www.gibson.com/en%2Dus/divisions/gibson%20usa/products/SG/ I knew those guitars were way too goofy to last. Ron G
Nobody (almost) will miss the goofy models. But I have a question: Didn't the original Special have P90s? My Special, circa 1970 did.
FloyDZeD
^ I think that's why they have the SG Classic.

Ron G
^ I think that's why they have the SG Classic. But I didn't see it on the page Spud cited, nor could I find it anywhere else on Gibson's site
RotcanX
The Classic has been discontinued since 2002, although they did pump out limited batches in 2004 and 2006. Yes, the original Specials had P-90s. Then in the seventies they put mini-humbuckers in them. Now they just put an anemic 490T in the bridge instead of the Standard's 498T... FloyDZeD
^ People must not be buying them then, since they've still got them on MF and I've seen quite a few in Guitar Center.

RotcanX
Well, it looks as though they build a batch every two years and it is 2008.

The GT had that cool Viper look, but the Goddess....was OK at $899 close-out and tempting but nah, I'm holding out for that Standard.
JefferySmith
MF is out of the SG GT and SG Godess. So if you want the Menace, buy now or forever hold your $879.
FloyDZeD
^ They've got a scratch 'n' dent GT in candy orange for $1291.99.

Unless their leftovers, my M.F. catalog I just got today has Classics for...899.00 I wanna say, I don't have it in front of me to look, but their under a grand. In fact, they have a picture of that very guitar.
iansmitchell
Hmmm. I'd like to see them bring back the minihumbucker special...
