I originally wanted an Epi LP Standard Plain top, but don't want to pay over $400 for a guitar right now. So I thought about the LP Studio for $329. But Now my eye has caught the Vintage G400 SG in Brown for $299 and the Black SG G400 for $349. (I'm assuming the diff in price of the SG's is the paint??) The problem is I'm hearing that the SG's are more solid, especially the Vintage models in this price range. I'm wondering if it would be a better buy than the Epi Les Paul Studio for $329 I just want something solid that I can mod later on down the road, in that 299 to 350 price range that'll have some psuedo-Gibson tone and bite to it. The G-400s (please don't call them 'SG's) will probably be a little lighter and they'll give you better access to the upper register. The G-400 is more comfortable to play sitting down. I'm partial to the SG models, but we had this same conversation with someone else 3 days ago, and he settled on a Les Paul. Why don't you fake us all out and get a Dot Studio? MMMMmmmmmmmmmm ...... a hollow/semi-hollow electric is next on my wish list .....already have an Epi AJ and LP....played an acquaintance's (spelling??) natural finish Dot, I wanted it...... and want it now !!!! RotCan told me once that the Epiphone Les Paul Studios were the same as the Epi les Paul Standards with the trim and inlays and knobs being the main difference. So Since i can't seem to find a LP Standard Refurb like had mentioned getting before ( all of the sudden i can't find a refurb when at the time i was thinking about it, there were a bunch avail online) I'm just gonna go for the studio and hopefully upgrade it down the road with better pick ups.
