I've sold a number of guitars, but I only regretted selling the Ibanez ARC300. I'm on the prowl for another one. Before I even shipped it to the buyer, I was going to try to back out, but a deal is a deal.

On the bright side, I learned my lesson that day and will never sell my Dot or Wildkat, but certainly would trade for a Casino or Sheraton.

Oh, man...my 1998 American Standard Telecaster in ocean turquoise. Bought it brand new from the "Rockhouse" on the Narborough Road in Leicester (amazing little guitar shop.) Cost me about £700.00 as I recall. The first really good guitar I ever owned...Then I hit a couple of financial snags in 2003 and had to flog it to pay my college tuition bill one semester. Still trying to convince myself that my degree was worth the sacrifice!

Went looking for a new Fender earlier on this year and played loads of Teles, but just couldn't get back into them. Ended up going home one day with a candy cola Strat, which is an amazing guitar that I will NEVER sell...but still...that 1998 Telecaster...

In 69 I bought a Chet Atkins Gretsch Country Gentleman for $300. I was so excited to get an electric guitar even if it was the uncoolest guitar a kid could have. I sold it for $350 a year later, made $50 but now I regret it. Also regret selling my Triumph TR 250, two seater sports car. It was a piece of junk, but I want it back.

Guitar one, would be my faithful old Teisco V2 (Mosrite Copy). It was cheesy and heavy , but I loved her. Gave it to my son, who lost it (traded for a bag of weed?) Worse of all he never learned to play.

Guitar two, was a pristine Hagstrom 1 I gave it to my nephew who lost it? (see above), you guessed it never learned to play.

But some good karma, my nephew came for a visit this summer, and brought my great nephew and he wailed on my LP YES.=D>

When I was about 19 I spent all my money on the end-of-the-line successor to that car... yup, a Triumph TR7. In hindsight, it's not the eventual parting with it that I regret...more the endless repair bills I never recouped. British engineering where you want it least on a car.

Guess I was dumb when I was younger...flogged my Telecaster yet somehow owned an example of what is rated by Time magazine as one of the 50 worst cars of all time:

Dumb, very dumb.

For the British car "fans"

Why aren't there any British computers?

Because they can't make one that leaks oil

Had 3 Gibsons, one after the other (had GAS but couldn't afford more than one at a time)

a 330, a SG Standard and a SG Special. Would love to have kept any of them. But I sold

the last one for money to buy a motorcycle. Oh well....

In January 1965, I got my first guitar, a Harmony H76. Beautiful guitar. 3 pickups, Bigsby, individual switches, volume and tone controls for each pickup. Cost me $100. About 5 months later I traded it and $75 in on a used Fiesta Red Stratocaster, probably a '63 or '64. In early '67 I got a Gretsch Tennesean as well. I ended up selling the Tennessean and Strat in 1972 for $300 and $165 respectively. I'd love to have any of those back!

Dave, I had a kramer 3000 too. Candy apple red! Awesome guitar to play live gigs with and it was my main guitar for later part of 80's. I remember teens would stand in front of the stage and drool.

ahhhh, A love story with a happy ending (not that I want to see you die, but the fact that the two of you will be together).

Someone get the location of the grave sight, we'll dig that sucker up.

Sold my G400, but I have 2 better guitars now to make up for it...

Not like I played it any after I got my Elite SG anyway, it was less comfortable, sounded dead and had less volume, action wasn't as nice...and so on.

I just wish I could have kept it since it was my first real guitar and I worked really hard to save up enough to buy that thing.

Sold my first electric (a Les Paul copy, by Columbus, which a friend had customized) to a friend of mine when I was living in the U.K.. That guitar has sat around for the best part of 20 years not being used, and I actually played it (unplugged) a few years ago. I have negotiated with my friend to buy it back from him, so I'm re-acquiring my first electric guitar.

Also, although I sold my Ibanez strat copy just before I moved back to Canada from the U.K., by sheer fluke a friend whom I made shortly after I moved had bought exactly the same model, same colour, so I got that from him.

Obviously I just can't part with a guitar permanently.

I've lost count of how many guitars have passed through my hands both as my personal instruments and ones I obtained to re-sell but in 1969 I bought a mid-60's Epiphone Crestwood Custom (cherry) that a couple of years later I traded in on a '65 Epiphone Riviera. I loved the Riviera and played it for nearly thirty years before trading it for a '65 Casino but there are days I do wish I had the Crestwood back. I don't recall at the time being that infatuated with it so this could all be nostalgia because the I also sometimes miss the guitar I traded in for the Crestwood which was a Burns Jazz Duo sound...which definitely is nostalgia at work lol. As I've related before here, in the mid 70's I bought an awful lot of Gibson LP Juniors, Specials and Melody Makers as well as Fender Mustangs and Duosonics that I turned around and sold and I wish I had Kept one of the Specials...since I usually sold them for around $125 (The Juniors, Mustangs and MMs went for around $100) after setting them up...and they go for a bit more than that now..like it's been said..."I would have been a millionaire if my mother hadn't thrown out my baseball card collection"....

I regret a few...but the ones I'd really like to see back were the 2 first electric guitars I had 42 years ago. I can't remember the made or even what kind of pickups were in it...at that time, I was knowing nothing else about guitars than a few chords and hardly tune them by ears...lolll ...The only thing I remember, it was bought at Sears by my parents as a Chritmas gift.

The second electric guitar I had, had a toilet seat shape (with single coils)....it was her nick name for all the time I had it. It's the first guitar I gigged with. There is an old picture of it, but you can't see no names or made... this picture is me and my toilet seat...40 years ago....

And the worst part you can see...I was wearing socks in my sandals...lollll
