I also found a thread in a forum that a guy (someone I know and actually talk to occasionally) has a 2005 and he notes the R at the beginning of the serial number represents The Peerless factory in Korea. This is most likely a Peerless (Korea) guitar.... What condition is it in ? Because I am also guessing it may have been made in 1991.... I had a 2000 Unsung (Korea) guitar that had the 1st three digits U00... I don't think they make rivieras or Casinos in China... Only Korea and Japan... My acoustic is a Peerless plant from 98 and has the R98. So not sure other that Peerless plant. I own several Peerless plant Epiphones and I think they make/made the best standard line stuff so unless you got a dud it should be a nice guitar. My Casino was made in China in May 2008 at the Qingdao factory (probably misspelling that as I'm doing it from memory). Guitardater.com gave me that information.
