AC4everDC
I'm looking for a new electric guitar. I'm 13. I've been playing for about a year now (and I'm pretty good for how long I've been playing - sorry I don't mean to brag. Anyway, I really like sg's, particularly the epiphone faded g400 or whatever its called at the moment. Since I'm kind of a novice, do you recomend this guitar for someone who's been playing for about a year?
glenn1281733995
Yep. Great guitar for all skill levels. It's very important to look at several (many) and pick out the one that feels/plays best for you. Some are better than others. In my opinion, the ones that have a serial number starting with "EE" are the best of the batch. Good luck with it.

Gashole
Sounds right up your alley. SG's indeed rock! I'm sure the EPI equivalant is a solid buy. glenn is right...check them out first if you can..unless you are dependent on mail order.

At that age, I don't think you have to worry about getting something that is too large for you. That said, if you have a Guitar Center anywhere near you, try a few different models. The G-400's are very nice, but so are some of the other epis in that price range. The Dot and the Dot studio are both nice, as are the Les Pauls. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them. iansmitchell
I'd say yes. Get the vintage/faded G-400, and an epi valve junior combo. For 450, that's an awesome setup. Later on, a pup swap and better tubes, but for now just PLAY PLAY PLAY!!
Guest
Judging by tour ID, I think it's safe to assume you'll only be happy with a guitar like Angus'

Lerxst1281733995
You're 13, so you don't have much money... You know what? You don't much to buy a quality guitar at a reasonable price.. But you aint gonna get it from Epiphone! Check this place out... http://www.rondomusic.com/index.html

But if you are on a budget...ehm do 'shop around'.
charlie brown
I vote, for the Vintage/Faded G-400, as well. That, and a good Tube amp, and you can do anything you want! CB
tulsaslim
The Epi LP Studio is a great choice as well.

You can only become better with a good guitar, It's a grave misconception that a novices should play on "cheap" guitars.
AC4everDC
Thanks everyone. They have the faded g400 at my local guitar store so that's pretty handy. Thanks for all the tips.
charlie brown
You're welcome...good luck, with whatever you purchase. And, I agree with McBratt....buy the best you can afford! Better to grow into a good guitar, than grow tired and bored, with a bad one! CB
