The_Sentry
This would be an interesting take on a contest: Instead of randomly drawing a winner, why not have a contest where Epiphone chooses the winner based upon the entry submission? Concept: "Design your own signature series guitar" 1 Epiphone guitar, any model under 500 dollars online retail price. $500 dollars USD allowance for upgrades (maximum), based upon online retail prices. Color and scheme is tossed in for free. Guitar must be described in 100 words or less. Reviewing the submissions, Epiphone chooses a "winner", and the winner not only gets his or her guitar made, but there's a limited run of 25-50 production models randomly distributed through a major vendor or offered online. So...not only would you win, but there's also the perk of knowing that someone else is out there playing a guitar designed by you, with your name (first name, last initial) on the truss rod cover... CodeMonk
Interesting concept. However I won't submit cause I never win any of those friggin online contests I'd design something based around the new Les Paul Axcess model. But that would probably run a bit to much money. And I suppose it would be fairly challenging to do something like this with the caps at 500 dollars for guitar, and upgrades. (And hey, if you could go even lower...) PS: An Axcess model...isn't that the one with the Floyd Rose? EDIT: There's another thought to consider: If Epiphone received repeat admissions with the same model, and the same mods over and over, that might be feedback to introduce another model outright. It would be good feedback for them in terms of "what to build and sell" on that level.
alex9152
Does anyone even win these contests? If someone won the news section on the main site would say so, congratulating the winner. Maybe they don't get enough entries to justify giving away a prize. A production run of 25-50 would be way too few. This is Epiphone not the Gibson Custom Shop. Around 500 would be good. But something like this? Well, sure....you've got some pretty hard physical evidence to indicate that someone won it...especially with a production line. As for enough entries? Hmmmm.....Man, I don't know. It's one thing to try to give away a specific model, but it's something else to have something where they would pretty much BUILD the guitar to your specs in the exact model and color you asked for. I would suspect the entries would be higher for that. (And considering Epiphone's sold worldwide....Wow....even if they received 10 thousand entries, that's still quite a bit.) EDIT: IT would be nice to see something on Epiphone's homepage with a link to previous contest winners.
