Casino noise problem

I have a fairly new Epiphone Casino, but there seems to be something vibrating inside the body, it makes a distorted sound and it can be heard everytime I play it but especially when not plugged in or on quite amp volumes.

Its not fret buzz.

I obviously can't access inside the body to see if anything is loose so what should I do?

Thanks in advance.

More than likely it's the height adjustment springs on the p_ups or the p_up rings

are not screwed down tight enough to the top..or the pickguard rattling/buzzing

against the bridge pickup.

Some things you could try:

1. The p_ups on the new Epis, could have the "improved" tapered springs for

height adjustment. These could still vibrate acoustically, but not as much as the older style

springs that need some damping..like some silicone seal on the spring once

you have the proper p_up height set.

2. If it's one of the p_up rings vibrating acoustically because it's not screwed down enough

and the screw is loose, you will need to glue in a toothpick in the screw hole

and tightened it down some more. (If that's were the vibration's coming from.)

3. If it's coming from the pickguard..remove the pickguard temporarily and

see if the vibration goes away. If it does, you will need to install a piece of sticky foam

on the underside of the pickguard (sticky on one side and where it won't show) and where it possibly

touches the bridge p_up ring. Also make sure that the pickguard is adjusted

so the notch (cutout for the bridge pickup) is not touching the pickup.

Also, it could be one of the pickups itself that is resonating from certain frequencies

and vibrating. This can happen on an acoustic top. I just stuff some acoustic foam

directly underneath the p_up (through the p_up routered hole) to stop that...works

for me anyway.

There may be some other cause, but these are the most common ones from

my experience.

Thanks Carverman.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure that its not the pickguard. I think it is something to do with the p_ups. I wouldn't want to mess with it too much though, I might take it back to sound control as they said when I got it that they'll service it for nothing anytime I want.

By the sounds of things I think its number 2 Carverman, but not sure I want to be glueing things to it cos known me I'd make an arse of it.
