I too sent and email requesting they read this thread... You guys (me too) represent the heart and soul of the Epi fans. It's people like us who keep the Epi guys in business at least to one degree. I too would like to see the Elitist series stay. In fact, I just received my Elitist Dot today and it is sweet. I'd sort of like to consider the Elitist Sherri...

Honestly though, this dot plays better than the Gibby 335 I played at guitar center a couple of weeks ago and it's much cheaper.

this the worst thing that ever happened to me =D>

elitist related, anyhow. considering what the "low end" epis cost, i think it is pretty safe to say i'll be taking all future business elsewhere. and i don't mean gibson. mf's elitist stock is mostly backordered. wonder what that means. i really hope they keep the sheraton and dot. i can understand the lps getting the ax because they are so much better than the regular epis and most gibsons. but tossing out the semis and hollows is just stupid.

any word on blowouts? saw a goldtop and a sheraton at my local store but no word on discounts. they have been there for a while already, so i don't think they'll do anything special to get rid of them.

and my elitist lp > agile 2800, for what it is worth.

The Edwards ESP guitars are a bit more expensive than the Elitists' date=' but they sure look to be nice (Japanese-made) instruments, with SD pickups. And I believe they are nitro finished.[/quote']

The Edwards line come in three finishes. The reliced models are the only models that are 100% nitro. The Lacquer Taste Series (LTS) (including the popular E-LP-98LTS models which approximates the Elitist Custom) are nitro over poly. The low end of the Edwards line are poly. The price for Edwards, including shipping from Japan, is equivalent to (maybe a hair cheaper than) Elitist pricing.

Sad to see the Elitist line go.

I am guessing the Elitist Casino is a big seller so they are keeping that one?

The Elitist Casino doesn't compete with the ES-335 IMO. The Elitist Sheraton and Dots do.

My feeling is that if they do bring them back they won't be of the same quality. They will fix the switch problems, put in slightly better pots, and put an Elitist plastic cover on the truss rod cover ... then charge you $1300 for an ax that is almost identical to the Standard models. I have seen this kind of crap happen in places where I have worked. You could compare Gibson to General Motors or Micro$oft.

Like Micro$oft and GM and now Epihone, "you can by better but you can't spend more"

Watch Guild start selling electrics again' date=' made by Terada or Tokai according to a rumor I heard awhile back. See how fast we see the Elitist line resurrected then![/quote']

Back in the '60s one of my band mates used a Guild Starfire. I don't know if they still make them but they played and sounded sweet.

I used a Chet Atkins Tennessean which sounded sweet. I have retired that ax. Funny thing is that I would buy another one but the new ones (Tennessee Rose?) really suck. In fact Just about every Gretsch I have played in the music stores suck. That is not an option.

A guy I jam with occasionally just got a Gretsch Electromatic single cut in that wonderful Gretsch orange color. And he paid $300 used' date=' in perfect condition!!!! Korean built, the workmanship was impressive as was the playability. Weighed more than I thought it would for a full hollow, not much less than my Dot. Very comfortable to play. There's also a walnut-finished double-cutaway model that looks very much like George's Country Gent. I WANT ONE! [/quote']

Some serious GAS on the Electromatic. I read someplace that they are made in China now, however getting rave reviews for quality.

The Walnut finish is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeett.

You know...the more I think about this, the more it upsets me....Gibson, has priced themselves out of a large part of

the buying public's budget. Elitist's were great quality, at a reasonable price...not cheap, but reasonable, for what you

were getting. So with Gibson's penchant for "Elitist" attitudes or being "precious" about their products to the point of

ridiculous pricing policies...the least they could have done, was thow us the "bone," and keep the Elitist Epi line going.

Nothing wrong with the standard Epi's, really...but I don't see why they couldn't continue both? If "sales" of the Elitist

weren't what they had in mind, volume wise, it was most likely due to poor marketing, or not being able to keep up with

the damand, so customers became frustrated, and bought something else? Sure wouldn't have been a quality issue.

Elitist Epi's were something Gibson and Epi could be proud of!!! So...it's another Epiphone/Gibson mystery logic...be nice

if we knew WHY, but that will NEVER happen! LOL!

For those who will miss the Epiphone Elitist Dot and/or Epiphone Elitist Sheraton, the Heritage H35 semihollow is $1895 with HSC and with that new fancy setup procedure (Pleck System Laser Based System) at the Heritage factory.

$1895 isn't that much more expensive than the Elitist Sheraton.

I've never heard of let alone played one? what's the problem/issue/deal with them?

They are probably the best value out there' date=' especially for Les Paul models. They are sold only by www.rondomusic.com in the USA. I have the top of the line Les Paul in root beer. Very nice. I'm pretty sure they are MIK.

yup, either i go for another mij (tokai, edwards) or i try and step up (in price, at least, if not quality) to a heritage. they take custom orders, but a local store told me i was looking at a 9 month wait. sorry epiphone. no elitist, no deal. especially with the price increase.
