TWANG
orange and red to lamp black and brown to battery or reverse this and you get a flash. however, no combination will produce that flash if you connect to the yellow and white wires, and any two others. since the instructions say, any two windings, can I assume then this OT is not performing correctly? It's on the chassis, but not connected anywhere. I'll do the PT now and see how that turns out.
cGil
Your assumption is correct! Apparently the winding between the 8 and 16 ohm tap is still intact, but the portion of the winding from 0 to 8ohms fried. You may be able to use what's left by pretending the 8ohm tap is the new ground, but it may not be 8 ohms worth of impedance at the former 16ohm tap. It's been so long since I studied this stuff that I'm just not sure if it's a linear or logarithmic thing. Gil...
TWANG
I bet that's the problem I had with that ground wire.. bad solder joint.. and then came loose when I was checking stuff.. which I didn't notice. fair guess, anyway.. I'll start with replacing that OT. After I test it that is~
