Ricochet
Just noticed the Epiphone EM-1 page says it's discontinued. I don't think the public was even aware of it existance yet, being (re-)introduced in what...one year ago? :-
EpiEric
I'd guess it's due to the two new Prophecy EM-2 models. Essentially the same guitar with a higher level of electronics and decoration.
Whitmore Willy
Ricochet, Higher prices, discontinued models.... Only 107 "chopping" days 'till Christmas. All seriousness aside: Epi still has a nice selection of guitars. Not too crazy about the new prices but that was inevitable.

I can't figure out any thought or structure behind it...
Whitmore Willy
Marketing plan? New models and colors are usually the result of someones "brainchild" or future market perception. (guess work) Continued and/or discontinued production is uaually the result of cost-factor sheets. Sadly, in todays world, I don't think there is much more to it than that. EpiEric
Yeah' date=' but I mean weren't the EM-1 and EM-2 Prophecy introduced at the same time? [/quote'] No, the EM-1 was introduced January 18, 2007 at Winter NAMM and the EM-2 Prophecy models on June 19, 2008.
