Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty

About two days ago I purchased the "Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3" through the internet, and it seems like a great guitar. Especially with all of the positive reviews, and the low price that I was able to get it for. Yet after comparing this version of the Black Beauty (http://www.music123.com/item/expandedimage.aspx?t=4&img=Epiphone/567193jpg.jpg) and comparing it to others as shown on musiciansfriend.com (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/document?cpd=0OEY&doc_id=99371&base_pid=518340&index=0) I noticed multiple difference. Although nothing major, just variations in the Tuning Pegs, headstock, and materials used... I was curious if there was any major difference between these two versions of Epiphones Les Paul Black Beauty. Is one better than the other, and worth more... Or are they just different years?

Thanks a ton.

I couldn't get the uRLs that you provided inside your post to reference music123 or

Mf. For some reason when I cut and pasted, it referred back to this post.

Anyway, I had a look at the 3 pickup version of the Les Paul Custom at Music123

and Mf...both look to be the same. The only difference is the new stock has the

asian Kluson style keystone (tulip shaped) metal tuners. The older stock would

probably still have the Jinho asian "Grovers" or kidney bean tuners.

They (MF) advertise an "all mahogany body"..but that is this asian mahogany which

has been discussed time and time again on this forum.

BTW: The Epi LP Custom/Goldtop and I think the Gibson ones too..has no maple cap like

some of the others. This was done as a cost saving because of the opaque

finishes. Ted McCarty years ago, decided to eliminate the maple cap on

Gibson LP Customs for that very reason. He believed that it "didn't make any

difference". It was a cost saving move for Gibson. Whether he believed it, or

somebody in the factory decided to do that and then informed him "that it

didn't make any difference"..is now a point for discussion.

There are certainly differences depending on when and where the guitars were made. This has been covered to excess here, even to the point people with real BB's have begun to think they're fake. The bottom line is how do you like the guitar? If it plays good and sounds good you made the right choice. If not you can always sell it/trade it for something you like better. But don't get caught up in stressing over little differences.
