High_Speed Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 So the admins seriously will delete a topic if it even hints that there is something out there as good or better than Epiphone products? That's the funniest thing I've ever seen on a message board!
davidg3333 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 This is an Epiphone forum. The admins have the right to delete any thread they want to, especially those that advocate products by other companies. Quite frankly I am pretty tired of all the pissing and moaning about the admins, price increases, and what not. In case you hadn't noticed, the prices on everything you buy has been going up over the last year. Yes we all love to have superb quality guitars, made out of rare species mahogany, for $50 but you would have had to have bought this about 70 years ago.

[/quote'] Of course all products are going up in price. Unfortunately for Epi, there are still other companies out there making great guitars and still managing to keep the prices down. But anyway, who cares about all that. I like Epiphones. But to think that no one makes a guitar as good would be plain naive. What I think it pathetic is the fact that Epiphone doesn't want anyone to KNOW that there are other companies out there making equal or superior products at much cheaper prices. All it shows is fear. That's all I'm saying. Now, topic put to bed. Enjoy your kool-aid.
charlie brown Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Well, we don't limit our "pissing and moaning" about prices, quality, or who buys what from whome, to Epiphone, Gibson, or anyone else! ALL are fair game! We pick on whole countries, or areas of the world. LOL! ;>) CB
BluezOldy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 You've got to admit that root beer is very, very nice:
msuspartansfan Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Why would anyone NOT buy a 'phone? Best guitar ever! *sip*

msuspartansfan Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 The 'phone should do that colour, I'd buy one :0)

layboomo Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Like I said before the 3000 series on up is a much Better guitar and they don't want to hear it!
stan 58 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 When I buy a Les Paul I want Les to get a couple of bucks from it. Stan.
51xt33 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 You remember during the most recent Olympics how China was shall we say "filtering" communication originating from China? How many Epi guitars are made in China? HMMMMM, coincidence?:D Seriously though, that spalted LP looks sweet and I've heard some really positive things about their guitars. I love it when companies put out a product like this one. I would think that it would motivate companies like the one doing this thread to keep the price and quality in line with their competition. Their parent company can charge the super high price because some will buy the name, but................ Any way, my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.
Trojon Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 At Les' age I doubt he cares about a couple of bucks.
Nic Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I'm in a business whose products are hand made from exotic woods, metal, glass, etc. I know what it costs to have something made in America by hand. And based on that knowledge I think the cost of Gibson guitars are well within reason. Furthermore, I think Epiphones are dirt cheap and I can't believe anyone would complain about their cost. And, when you buy an Epi you are buying their reputation, which has value to you as an owner. The resale value of an EPi stays pretty high compared to something like an Agile.
TheX Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 The resale value of an EPi stays pretty high compared to something like an Agile. I buy and sell many guitars a month and that simply isn't true.
JefferySmith Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 You've got to admit that root beer is very' date=' very nice: [img']http://www.rondomusic.net/photos/electric/al3100widerootbeer5.jpg[/img] When I ordered my Eastman semihollow last year, I wanted to get a finish that was as close to root beer as possible. Jeff Hale went through the Eastman factory warehouse in California (he is one great guy) and selected this one for me. It isn't quite root beer IMO, but it is close enough to make me happy.
Just Strum Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I don't buy and sell to the degree X does, but I would tend to agree with him. Resale is a funny thing and when someone really wants what you have, then it will hold its value. However, there are models from Epi and Agile that will not hold their value and those that due. There is a lot that goes into what a used guitar will fetch on the open market. Of all the guitars I've bought and sold, I lost money once and that was because I sold it on flee bay and didn't set the reserve high enough. My fault, but I may not have sold it - come to think of it, I wish I hadn't. Anyway, making a statement that Epi holds there value and Agile does not is painting it with a really wide brush.

stan 58 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 IMHO Epi will generaly hold its value more then an off brand. Its still A Gibson product. Stan.

It all seems to go with name recognition. Who on earth other than die hard LP aficionados have heard of Agile guitars? What blows me away is this 1957 Strat for sale at the local guitar shop. Anyone got $38' date='500? [img']http://www.webcorral.com/Fender_57Strat_24701_fullfront.jpg[/img]
