Ricochet Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 We've all heard of the E-series with modelnames like Beast X, Beast FX, Pierced SG, G Xtreme FR, Demon V... Now I understand there were in fact 2 E-series. There was also a 'E-Series USA' with models like Apollo, Moderne, Comet and Futura. I always thought the E was an Economy-line, but the USA designation would suggest a higher quality to me. So anyone have one of those or played it by any chance? Edit: Never mind. I used the Wayback-machine...(link doesn't work, copy complete link in browser bar) http://web.archive.org/web/20061017114651/http://www.gibson.com/whatsnew/pressrelease/2001/mar15a.html The E-series consisted of 5 lines but strangely enough 2 lines were sporting just 1 model... Here's The Comet from the USA series...obviously it never cameth..
captmidnight Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Hey Ric not a bad looking bunch of guitars..some a little strange:-" I do have one of the "E" series, the Galaxie 10 amp. Got it about a year ago I think ( NOS still in the original box), has a 10 inch Celestion Tube 30 watt speaker. For 145 bucks including shipping it was a hell of a deal. Every where I read it needed the stock tubes trashed and the speaker junked and better of both put in...I found the Celestion tube 30 speaker to sound fine after breaking it in. It loves peddles and a new set of tubes might help..but crank it to above 5 on the volume and the gain to 7 and it starts to sound really good. Capt
Ricochet Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 Hey Capt. 145 Bucks is not a bad deal. I read the Galaxie originally had a 10" Electar speaker. Did they change specs?

I saw that too on the web site you put up, maybe using up all the speakers from the Electar amps they were making? The later ones had the Celestion speakers...mine came with the Celestion tag on the handle so know it is stock. Capt
