Bronze' date=' for acoustic only...Steel for use as an Electric. As to brands?? "I" prefer Elixer Bronze, or Martin...

and D'Addario electric strings. But, that's just me.

Charlie,

I thought on the original J-160e, you had to use steel due to the pup. I had a Gibson years ago and couldn't get any volume with using Steel.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned Bronze for ONLY acoustic playing. If he's going to use the pickup, it would have

to be with Steel (Electric guitar) Strings. Brand, of HIS preference, of course. When The Beatles used those guitars, as "acoustic" I'm pretty sure they used bronze strings, and mic'd the guitar, for recording. Then, just used them as

hollow bodied electrics, on stage. Or...they may have just mic'd them, for recording WITH the Steel strings? But, someone here may be more enlightened, in that regard?
