LP: Difference between?

Hello all,

 

Wondering what the difference is between the EPI LP standard, standard plus and the Ultra II? I'm looking to buy one so i want to get more knowledge about what i'm getting! Whilst im here... Anyone that has there's for sale contact me. Im looking for ones that are in very good nick (just like new).

Welcom to the forum.

 

JC pretty much covered it. While you are on one of his provided liks you might click on the list on the right and check out the Ultra as compared to the ultra-ll. Biggest difference I can see is the contoured back and the nano-pickup on the ultra ll. Also read the review link on the ultra. (same page). And read the more info link on the ultra ll.

 

A couple of things to consider:

 

Ultra and Ultra ll...Gold hardware...beautiful but not for everyone.

U and U ll are chambered. Don't know how much it effects the sound....but...as someone with a couple of L.P.s, they can become quite heavy after hours of playing them.

The cap on the plus is little more than a veneer. Makes little or no difference in the sound above the standard. Stickly looks.

If you seriously are considering the Ultra ll, you are within $50 of the Prophecy EX or GX. Some like 'em some don't.

If you are in that price range you are also in the range of a used Elitist.

 

Best thing to do is play them and decide for yourself.....Good luck and happy hunting.

Wow thanks guys for the help. See thats the thing. I live in quite a remote part of the UK and all the music shops around are pretty small. For some reason they have stopped getting Epi and Gib. Something to do with Epi changing distrubution centers. So it is near impossible to find a shop close enough to go a try them out.

 

But after reading your replies and thinking about my budget#-o i think the standard is the best for me. I have played it before and did like it. I have my eyes on trans amber finish.

I have had my standard plus for a while now. Although I will likely buy other guitars in the future I do not think I would ever get rid of mine.

O cool thats good to hear. Obviously a nice guitar then. Is trans Amber a rare colour for Epiphone? Doesnt seem to be many around.
