MMeazey Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has had any expereince with a good but cheap wall hanger for a les paul that they can recommend me?
TWANG Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I go to the hardware store. I buy tool hooks.. they have soft covering and screws on the other side. I screwed a long board, painted to match the wall, into my music room wall. high enough to keep a guitar out of the way. then I screwed a row of these tool hooks into the board/wall. I hang four guitars up there all the time. They usually have two kinds.. red plastic covered, and black rubbery covered.. the red is too thin.. the black is just right. the red usually are a bit too narrow, too, and need bending.. I used them in the kids room for his rock band guitars. If you're worried about the covering bothering your finish, wrap cotton cloth around it tight and tie it off. but it's the same stuff that comes on guitar stands so.. I never bothered. two or three bucks each, max. cheaper at the dollar store if you have one. TWANG
ant7629 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Got some from what used to be Sound Control in Manchester. £5, really well made with a wooden block on the back so it really secure. http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Hercules---GSP38-WB~ID~4267.asp (not that place I went to) If you do get one, be sure to buy some longer screws, as the ones that come with the hanger wouldn't hold a picture up, never mind a guitar..!
MMeazey Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Ok thanks for your help. I got this one... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hercules-GSP38WB-Auto-Grab-Mount/dp/B0009K9MUA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1222161755&sr=8-1
Greg M Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Just a note of caution. Some of the plastic covering used on stands and wall hangers will react with lacquer finishes. Even some of the expensive wall hagers will ruin a lacquer finish. Polyxxxx finishes are fine with just about anything. Just be sure its safe before you hang up that vintage Les Paul Custom. Greg
