Hey all,

About 10 years ago, I purchased my Les Paul from A Sam Ash store. I've been unable to ID what type/model Les Paul it is. When I run the serial number, it only shows that it was made in Korea. The serial starts with I9711. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

It was made in Saein Korea, November of 1997.

I have no idea about the model without a pic. The Serial number will tell you where it was made, when and what number in the production that month. The last four numbers will tell you the production number.

Mtbuckley,

Looks like a Standard Plus, maybe a Classic or Limited Edition. Wish I knew more.

Is that the original pickguard?

I didn't think the serial numbers before "98" are read in the same way as the numbers today. (could be wrong)

The I does indicate Saein plant in Korea.

Anyway, nice looking guitar.

Thank you! Yes, everything on it is original. The pic guard has some scuffing from playing it, but the guitar itself is mint. I'm looking to purchase a Casino, Dot or maybe even an ES, so I may need to sell this one. I want to be sure I don't sell myself short. Even Gibson wasn't able to pull up much info. They think it could be a pretty rare model. So trying to get as much info as I can...maybe I'll keep it after all..lol

Mtbuckley,

If you buy and sell guitars to "thin out the herd" by all means sell it. If you do not play it, sell it. If you do not think you will ever want another one, sell it. Keep in mind...it is still a 10 year old Epi. You are not going to make a fortune on it at this point.

Consider this:

Many years ago something happened to me. (no need to go into details)

I said I would never play music again. At that time I had a Gibson Paul, a Guild 12 string and a Guild classical.

I can't tell you how many times I thought I was foolish for not selling them.

Twenty years later, I started playing again. Every time I think that I might have sold those Guitars I cringe.

I know now that I never would have gotten them back again.

Friends don't walk away from friends.

Nice guitar but Not a rare model at all.

Ive seen a few in my area of Metro Detroit.

There may be a Custom Shop stamp on the back of the headstock as well. However they are production Line MIK models.

Id say they fetch between $300-$400 used.
