Epi replacement parts and need pup advice from experts for my new Epi

Hey guys,

p><p>1. I

2. Need a set of tuners, 18:1 prefered. The shaft on these is too short and have a lower gearing.

Where can I buy these parts online? I've tried a few stores but they seem to only carry Gibson things and I know it's not the correct size. I don't even know what the correct post spacing on this Epi is.

Last, I'm thinking about dropping in a set of Antiquity mini humbuckers but am also curious about the new SD P-Rails. Of course, I'd change out all the electronics too. PRails would be a drop in and the minis would need a plastic adapter ring.

Any advice? If possible, I'd like to do as much of the purchasing in only one or two stores due to high shipping rates out of the country.

Thanks

I know you can order the SD P-Rails from Musicians Friend and you can probably find the tuners you need to although I've never shopped for t-keys there. I'd look there first.

You can also try Stewart MacDonald, guitarpartsresource.com, rsguitarworks.net, guitarelectronics.com, or allparts.com

and there may be more out there. Personally, I wouldn't put mini's in. I just don't think it would look good.

I'm wanting to get a set of P-Rails myself and put it into an epi dot - I like versatility! I like to get as many sounds out of 1 guitar that I can because right now where I play the most changing guitars is not an option.

Nice looking guitar by the way.

I have a dealership and know you can get parts from WDmusic.com or Allparts.com, 'cause that's where I get them.

It has been my personal experence from upgrading both Fender...my Tele to a Nashville tele....to screwing with this Joe Pass I got from a Supposed professional musician in Mass.....

If your upgrading, I found CTS pots best in both for clarity and sound...but Matched componets are important...

If you want to upgrade an EPI and like the sound of a Gibson and have the money, get Gibson parts...simple...

The wire size is different for a Gibson as well, you also need to match up the pickup spacing, unless it is rails....there are some odd balls produced by epi....less then 2" neck ... etc.

Thats a beautiful ax by the by....I'd go Pure Gibson 57 classics and all Gibson pots and wires-best ones they have-...bid from Gibson Dependable for one or order from the Gibson shop in Nashville.....that would sound wonderful, then some....I'd get it pre wired to be honest if I could...it's a pain in the arse ... and use Gibson diagrams for the guitar that matchs the sound you want....man, that is nice....

Antiquity mini humbuckers NO< NO< NO.....get Gibson pickups or Seyoure Duncan...you have something nice, why go cheap?...and rails...why?

What kind of strings are you using and what is your type of play? What sound are you looking for?....want to trade for a Joe Pass...LOL!

joz - have you check out the specs or video demo on Seymour's P-rails? They are not ordinary rails. They are a p-90 pickup with a single coil rail next to it. When combined together they are work together to form a humbucker sound. So what you get is Single coil, P-90, and Humbucker all in one pick-up. This is why I'm so interested in it - versatility!

And if you wire it yourself it sounds like fun, fun, fun!

Thanks for the good tips guys.

I was lucky enough today to find a set of Schaller tuners locally, so that part is done.

I'll look around the recommended sites for the TonePro hardware although the originals are fine... but you know you always want a little more. O:)

As far as the pups, I still haven't decided. Jozluck... Antiquities happen to be Seymour Duncan's most espensive pickup and they have a great sound that might go along with this hollowbody really well. Yes, I would have to make a couple of adapter rings but that's not a problem at all. Still, I'm REALLY curious about those P-Rails. As Djrmusic777 mentioned, versatility is key! I already have a Sheraton with P90s and don't want both guitars to end up sounding alike.

Here's a good demo of them.

For sure I'll be using CTS brass shaft, audio taper pots and a couple of orange drops. As far as doing the work, thats not a problem. Since this LP is hollow (not semi) and the position of the F holes, it should be a heck of a lot easier than working on the Sheraton!

Thanks again!

A cheaper alternative too the Duncan Antiquities IMO would be Duncans 59 set, APII set, Seth Lovers or Pearly Gates set.

They all have that Great Early PAF vibe going on.

Hello, i recently bought an Epi too.

Second hand and i set and PAF on the neck and a Super Distortion on the bridge.

Changed all the pots, and pu´s switch for CTS ALLParts.

The bridge i got the tonepros, tuners i bought planet waves.

But this was me...so you have to think about it reall well, pick up sound is something really personal so...you have to try a lot of them.
