slim_blues_boy Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 someone in my town selling this guitar. he said it was made in Korea, production year 1996. he change the bridge pickup with EMG. is it real thing? I never saw Epi in this color (Metallic Blue) before. and the price is around 350-400 US$, is it worth? Pics: thanks for the info.
Demigawd Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I found a Korean 1996 metallic pink les paul standard on Ebay says it was a limited edition, the metallic blue is probably from that same run. Couldn't tell you if its worth it though. Don't know if that's helpful or not.
lespauljames Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 How can the guitar be both passive and active, ? and it dosent look to be a passive emg either,
Suho Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 There was an Epi LP Deluxe on the Philadelphia Craigslist very recently. Also finished in Sparkling blue. I don't believe I have ever seen another Epi LP Deluxe, but maybe one or two in the blue finish.
ef_in_fla Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 $300 seems a little more reasonable for it. I likey that sparkle top though.
slim_blues_boy Posted September 27, 2008 Author Posted September 27, 2008 How can the guitar be both passive and active' date=' ?and it dosent look to be a passive emg either, [/quote'] I don't know that, I haven't see the guitar, just saw it on the ads.
slim_blues_boy Posted September 27, 2008 Author Posted September 27, 2008 $300 seems a little more reasonable for it. I likey that sparkle top though. since I live in Indonesia, I can get new MII Epi LP on that price range (350-400 US$). MII Epi G-400 also cheaper in here, only between 200-250 US$. so I'm wondering whether this 2nd MIK LP is worth enough for that range of price. I'm considering to buy it jut because I like the color. I think there's no one answer my first question yet, is this 'real' Epi? or this just another fake guitar? there are lots of fake guitar in my country, that's why I want to know for sure whether this is real Epi or not.
Stevie Nazarenie Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 that stamp on the back of the head stock says custom shop? the neck is just standard wired and the neck is powered by a battery?
slim_blues_boy Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 that stamp on the back of the head stock says custom shop?the neck is just standard wired and the neck is powered by a battery? the seller didn't use the neck pickup, he only use the bridge pickup, EMG 81. he put the neck pickup only to cover the pickup cavity. for the stamp on the back, I'm not sure, I haven't see the guitar. maybe in few days I will look the guitar.
Greg Curtis Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Stan, is that an LP in Green. She's different and beautiful. Is the green available in any of the Epi's?
stan 58 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Thanks Mr. Curtis, it's a 98 LE Les Paul that they only made for may be two years. I't's lovingly known as the "Iguina Burst" on the forum. The color is rare but there are a few around, but none availble from Epiy that I know of.
Blue sparkle Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I own ecxactly the same guitar it`s a les Paul limited edition blue sparkle 96 built in Korea. It`s a rare color, this is the second time i ever see a picture of it.
slim_blues_boy Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 hmm, thanks for the info. but I think I wont chase this one, I found another great Epi LP. black LP Custom, and it's was made in Fuji-gen factory! asking price 1000US$, expensive but worthy.
Greg Curtis Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 "Iguana Burst" is the perfect nickname for her, she is gorgeous Stan!!
Elliott Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Wow, if it really is a rare colour, then I am so jealous that you have the opportunity to buy it !!! That is a perrrdy finish ! Ive always wanted a sparkle top LP, but I think some are expensive. Am I right ?
Guitar Chico Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 hmm' date=' thanks for the info. but I think I wont chase this one, I found another great Epi LP.black LP Custom, and it's was made in Fuji-gen factory! asking price 1000US$, expensive but worthy.[/quote'] Yeah I'd do that too.
