tflanster Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I recently acquired a LP Classic Quilt Red - 4 months new. I know it's a discontinued model that was selling on MF for about $550.00. I'm wondering where it falls in the ratings among other LP's like the Standard, Studio, Dot, etc. Any thoughts on this? I really like the guitar. I just installed a set of Addario flats on it and to me it sounds and plays just about the way I hoped it would. Thanks
stan 58 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I think Classics were the same as standards but with differant PUs. Stan.
Randy1281734003 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I think the only difference was they took the covers off of the pups for a different look in addition to the quilt top. I just bought a used classic about 6 or 8 weeks ago, I gave it to a band mate to test drive, if he likes it I'll sell it, if not I'll probably mod it
snobdrblinkchik Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 so do all the classics come with flame or quilted tops? because i just bought a black classic but it looks way darker compared to the pics on musiciansfriend/guitarcenter.com. it's still slightly transparent though because i can see the wood.
Suho Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I had a beautiful amber quilted top classic, like, as in gorgeous. Many or most classics also have no pickguard installed. Classic Gibsons had more greenish colored inlays, but I don't think the Epis have that distinction. CHeck out this listing near me: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/msg/855440874.html seemed to be a good deal for a mod project.
Suicidehummer Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I almost got one, but after playing one at GC, I said "No thanks". Ended up paying way more, but being much happier with my Ultra.
