I just got the Epi ES 295 I see Mr Moore has a piece of pickguard on the lower bout!!! Can anyone tell me or help me git me one of those?? I know it is prolly Impossible! But I am trying! MK

Mac, I don't know but I doubt that was ever a Gibson part. Do a search on custom pickguards and see what they would charge to make you one. Not sure how to mount it. Maybe Gibson or Epiphone can help you with that.

I'm wondering something....

Has anybody played this guitar AND a wildkat or casino?

I'm curious as to the sound difference due to the plastic vs the metal dogear covers?

I've been looking at this guitar off and on for a little while now...I hope it's not one of the ones on the chopping block!

EDIT a few minutes later:

Damnit! it IS on the chopping block. Lame!

On p 13 of 'Burst: 1958-60 Sunburst Les Paul by Jay Scott and Vic da Pra (Seventh String Press, 1994). there is a photo of Mary Ford's 1958 gold top that has a pickguard with a floral stencil on it (like the ES-295) and a matching arm rest.

I've never seen a pic of an ES-295 outfitted like that; the caption notes "the custom arm rest."

Oh By the way I had a Casino with Chrome P90. and a Wildcat,, Both really did not compare to 295 ... The Wildkat was much more tight though

All three guitars sound different. Hard to say how much is due to the metal or plastic pup covers, since the guitars' construction varies so much too. The 295's extra depth gives it more roundness and warmth over the Casino, plus the single cutaway provides less vibration loss from the neck.

Hi, I just bought my FIRST Epiphone. It's ES-295 (probably you guess that from the header). I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'm asking here, in this thread. Does anyone know, what are the factory string gauges on Epi ES-295? These feels like 011...
