tmp914 Posted September 27, 2008 Author Posted September 27, 2008 output transformer is also very hot to the touch
layboomo Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Have you opened it up and looked at the PCB for any obviously burned out components?
layboomo Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Output tube Yup that was my next suggestion too m-theory......try a new el-84 it might be that simple.....although many times a bad tube takes the bias resistor out with it!
fenrirlupus Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 output transformer is also very hot to the touchthen why'd you touch it? let it cool off first... i don't know much about amplifiers but things have stopped working for me and wouldn't work if i tried restarting them, but after leaving it sit for a day or two...
Eracer_Team Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 For power transformers and output transformers should not get very hot... very warm in a very warm environment but not hot. Very hot usually means the lacquer in the transformer is on the verge of shorting out.
