ButchCassidy Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I bought my first VJr a couple months ago and it sounds like sex. I bought it intending it to just be a mini for practice in my bedroom but have been using it for practice with the band after finding out how loud it can get. I bought it from a local music go round, where they told me the previous owner had done mods to it. I was wondering how I could figure out what mods have been done. ???
Just Strum Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I'm not an expert on mods, but to start you can post a picture of the face plate. After that the experts will have to guide you.
ButchCassidy Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 Thanks! The face plate is stock. From what I've read it's a V2 because the lines don't go through the middle. I was just wondering what the basic mods are that could be done to it, and if it even is modded, I guess.
Memphs1978 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 i love mine too.. im thinking about getting another head also prolly going to get a valve Sr. and maybe one of the " hot rod " ones too but that all costs money... lol
TWANG Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 typical is replacing R1 and R2.. this increases the signal input quite a bit. takes a wet blanket off the amp.. if you compare yours to a stock VJ V2, you'd hear that clearly. If compared to a V3 not so much because they did the same thing. take a picture of the guts.. pull the head out.. take a couple good pics.. then compare them to pics of the stock guts.. there's some around, I'm sure.. just ask in another thread and they'll show up. Then you can see things like this, larger capacitors, different colored and sized resistors.. that will be the main things. I'd give you some pics but I'm being hurried off. TWANG
ButchCassidy Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 Thanks for the good advice! So when is the valve Sr coming out? Do you think they'll offer it as just a head too?
