V-Type Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 My bud just purchased a new LP 100 in sunburst. As you know they are Bolt on's and a bit lighter than the Standard and Custom LP's. I expected her to feel and sound Very AVg at best. Boy was I surprised at how well she felt and played. Actually I was completly blown away that she played so well. What else that was weird and cool was the stock Epi pickups destroyed the stockers that came in my EPI LP Custom and hung nicely tone wise with my Duncan loaded Custom What an excellent $200 Gem IMO.
MarxBros Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I really hope you're kidding because those are one of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever laid my hands on. Total trash in all respects, fit, finish, feel, tone, action...trash.

[/quote'] wow that was a little much dont ya think? i think they are kinda kool in there own right hell its a 200.00 guitar you cant ask for much but it plays its has 2 pu's and a bolt on neck... it cant be that bad really? hell fenders have bolt on necks right?
larkin38 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I beg to differ. I had a lefty LP-100 in black and I played it thru a Marshall and it sounded fine to me. I sold it coz I have to thin out the herd. But it was a really cool guitar. I had the action real low, with light gauge strings, and the person I sold it to loved it. I just don`t have room for all my guitars. For the money it`s a great entry guitar. Something with quality you can learn on.

stumblinman Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I rarely post here as I've even found several folks on this board to be Epiphone snobs, which is odd after all the complaining about Gibson snobs. LP100 is a niche guitar that can be excellent quality or poor quality, just like every other Epiphone other than the Elitists. I have an LP100, and other than shipping damage which caused me to ship my original back and get a second. I've been very happy with it's playability and finish. Pickups are a different story, so I installed BB2 in bridge and P-94 in neck and the tone and sustain is beautiful. Good setup out of the box and plays like a dream. Chances are for every person knocking these, they each own a Fender/Squier with a bolt on neck and wouldn't say boo about it. I like the lighter weight and the lack of binding. Binding makes LP's look like plywood boxes to me. Say what you want, I appreciate MY LP100.
tintin Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I like my LP-100 also. Cheap, but tough, crunchy humbuckers, thin neck, almost as small, thin and light as my Fender Strat.

I don't even own a fender guitar let alone a squire... Anyway, whatever makes you happy... I also know some people that find Rossie O'Donnel attractive... I guess we all have different tastes/standards.... Anyone using alder to make a Les Paul should have their head examined... And this is not to mention the cheap nut, tuners, pickups, and inlays.

layboomo Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I agree' date=' total crap.[/quote'] +2 guys it's a POS any way you slice it! The new fender squier vintage vibe tele for $299 is light years ahead of the Epi in terms of a quality cheap guitar and so are most of the Agiles!
V-Type Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 You know going in I thought the previous LP 100's I had played were Meh at best. But my buds feels and sounds way better than I thought it would. He either got a 1 in a 1000 lucky build or the newer ones Really arent all that bad. She wasnt quite the Tone King my Epi LP Custom is but she sure hung real close when we played them together. Fit and Finish is VG as well. :-k
